XAU Sell Trailing System

XAU Short Trail is a short-only Expert Advisor for XAUUSD (Gold). It enters on breakout signals in the sell direction and manages the exit with a trailing stop instead of a fixed take-profit, letting extended downward moves run further than a fixed target would allow.

Strategy XAU Short Trail trades XAUUSD exclusively on the sell side. Entries are triggered by a breakout-based signal; there is no long-side logic in this version. Every position uses a fixed stop-loss and a trailing stop (no fixed take-profit), designed to capture extended bearish moves in gold while cutting losers quickly.

This is a directional, sell-only system. It is built for traders who want short exposure to gold as a standalone tool or as part of a larger, diversified portfolio — not as an all-conditions, all-direction system.

We publish both numbers on purpose. The gap between backtest and live results reflects real-world spread and slippage on gold, which any XAUUSD system will experience to some degree. We would rather show you the live number than let the backtest number speak alone.

Important disclosures

• Live track record covers a period of a broader gold downtrend (May–September 2026). Performance during a sustained gold uptrend has not yet been validated on a live account.
• Track record length is currently ~4 months. This is a young signal, not a multi-year one — treat position sizing accordingly.
• Past performance does not guarantee future results.
• Broker-dependent results. All figures above (backtest and live) come from execution on Axi. This EA uses a tight stop-loss/trailing distance, which makes results sensitive to each broker's spread, slippage, and execution speed on XAUUSD. Results on a different broker will differ — in our own testing, the gap between backtest (PF 2.06) and live execution (PF 1.20) was driven mainly by this.
• Before running on a live account with a new broker: run the included default settings on a demo account for at least 2–4 weeks on your broker, and compare the resulting win rate / profit factor against the numbers published here. If your broker's spread on XAUUSD is meaningfully wider than Axi's, expect a similar or larger gap. We recommend demo validation over blind re-optimization — running the Strategy Tester optimizer against a short window of your broker's data on its own can overfit new parameters to noise. If you do want to adjust the stop-loss/trailing inputs for your broker's spread, do it with several years of tick data and out-of-sample validation, not a single optimization pass.
