VSA Wyckoff Volume is a volume analysis tool built on Volume Spread Analysis (VSA) and Wyckoff methodology principles. Instead of showing raw volume bars, it classifies every bar's volume relative to its own trailing average, making it immediately clear when a bar's activity is unusually high or low — often the first sign of institutional participation, climax moves, or exhaustion.
Key Features:
1. Six-Level Volume Classification
Each volume bar is compared against a Wilder-smoothed volume moving average and colored according to configurable ratio thresholds:
- Purple — Ultra high volume (extreme activity, often climactic)
- Red — Very high volume
- Orange — High volume
- Green — Normal volume
- Blue — Low volume
- Silver — Very low volume
All six threshold ratios are fully adjustable, so you can tune sensitivity to match the symbol and timeframe you trade.
2. Wilder-Smoothed Volume Average
Uses a Wilder-style moving average (rather than a simple average) for the volume baseline, giving smoother, more stable classification that reacts proportionally to recent volume history.
3. Optional Volume MA Line
An optional overlay line plots the volume moving average directly on the histogram, letting you visually confirm how far current volume deviates from its baseline.
4. Clean Separate-Window Display
Renders in its own indicator subwindow below the price chart, so it doesn't interfere with your price action analysis or other overlays.
Who is this for?
Traders who follow Wyckoff method or Volume Spread Analysis (VSA) and want a fast visual read on volume anomalies — spotting potential climax volume, weak follow-through, or accumulation/distribution signs without manually comparing bar heights.
Inputs:
Volume MA length, six configurable ratio thresholds (Ultra/Very High/High/Normal/Low/Very Low), and an option to show/hide the volume MA line overlay.
Notes:
- Works on any symbol and timeframe
- Compatible with MetaTrader 5
- Uses tick volume (real volume not available on most retail forex feeds)
- No external DLLs required
- Non-repainting — color classification is based on completed bar data
