Automated institutional breakout trading | SuperTrend filtered | Full risk management
Trade the most powerful 15 minutes of the trading day.
Every trading day, the opening 15 minutes of the New York equity session produces one of the most reliable and exploitable price patterns in all of financial markets. Institutional desks, hedge funds, and algorithmic traders all react to the same catalyst at the same time — creating a high-momentum breakout that KASH ORB X is purpose-built to capture.
KASH ORB X is a fully automated MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor that identifies the New York Open Range, waits for a confirmed breakout, filters the trade through a proprietary SuperTrend trend engine, and manages the position with institutional-grade risk controls — all without any manual intervention required.
The Strategy: How It Works
Phase 1 — Build the Range (9:30 – 9:45 AM EST)
During the first 15 minutes of the New York equity open, KASH ORB X watches the market and records the highest high and lowest low of every candle that forms within the range window. This price band becomes the Opening Range — a critical zone that defines the boundaries of pre-breakout equilibrium.
The logic behind this is rooted in market microstructure: the opening window is characterised by order book discovery, as market participants from Europe, Asia, and North America all react simultaneously to overnight news, economic releases, and pre-market positioning. The resulting price action forms a consolidation zone that, once broken, often triggers sustained directional momentum.
Phase 2 — Wait for the Breakout
Once the range window closes, KASH ORB X begins monitoring for a breakout. A breakout is confirmed when:
-
A candle closes above the Range High (long/buy signal), or
-
A candle closes below the Range Low (short/sell signal)
The optional Breakout Buffer setting allows traders to require additional clearance beyond the range boundary before triggering — reducing false breakout entries during choppy or news-driven market conditions. The Wait for Candle Close option enforces that price must close beyond the range, not just pierce it intrabar, providing a significant reduction in whipsaw trades.
Phase 3 — SuperTrend Trend Filter
Not every breakout deserves a trade. KASH ORB X applies a fully-computed SuperTrend indicator running on a separate, user-defined timeframe (default H1) to ensure that only breakouts that align with the prevailing trend direction are taken.
The SuperTrend is calculated directly inside the EA using ATR-based volatility bands — it does not rely on any external indicator file. The algorithm computes the upper and lower bands across the full lookback period on every tick, making it fully self-contained and backtestable.
-
Long trades are only taken when SuperTrend is in BULL mode (price above the trend line)
-
Short trades are only taken when SuperTrend is in BEAR mode (price below the trend line)
-
SuperTrend can be disabled entirely for breakout-only trading
Phase 4 — Trade Entry
When both the breakout condition and the trend filter are satisfied, KASH ORB X executes a market order at the current bid (sell) or ask (buy) price. The entry process applies five sequential validation checks before any order reaches the broker.
Phase 5 — Trailing Stop
Once a trade moves into profit beyond the activation threshold, KASH ORB X activates a percentage-based trailing stop that follows price and locks in gains as the move extends. The trail never moves backward — only in the profitable direction.
The trailing stop engine includes advanced netting-account protection: it checks the broker freeze level and the proximity to the position's TP before sending any modification request. If the position is within the freeze zone (i.e., the broker is already processing a TP fill), no modification is sent — eliminating the 'close to market' errors that plague less sophisticated trailing stop implementations.
Phase 6 — End-of-Day Close
At a user-defined daily close time, KASH ORB X closes all open positions to avoid overnight exposure. The close engine is built specifically for netting accounts:
-
It checks whether price is within the broker freeze zone of any open TP or SL before sending any request
-
If the position is frozen (broker is auto-closing via TP/SL), the EA skips it entirely — no redundant error-generating requests
-
If the position is not frozen, it strips TP/SL first via a modify request, then closes — preventing the opposing market order from being rejected
Kash ORB X comes with two optimized set files Scalping and Conservative with Scalping selected as the default, tuned specifically for NASDAQ (NQ), and if you need the set files or default configuration, please send me a direct message.
