Gold Range Breaker EA
XAUUSD (Gold) · H1 · daily range breakout with trend & risk filters
A mechanical Expert Advisor that trades the breakout of the previous day's high
and low on Gold. Every trade is filtered by three layers that backtested best,
and all of them are exposed as inputs.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Each day the EA records the previous day's range (high/low).
2. A breakout above the high or below the low triggers a trade in that direction.
3. Entries are filtered by:
- H4 trend filter (SMA) — trades only in the direction of the
higher-timeframe trend.
- Session time window — trades only inside a configurable window
(default 07:00-19:00 server time).
- Risk management — break-even stop, partial close, and a daily loss limit.

RISK MANAGEMENT
- Fixed stop-loss / take-profit by default.
- Break-even: after the price moves in your favor, SL is moved to entry.
- Partial close: part of the position is closed at a fixed target.
- Daily loss limit: the EA stops opening trades for the day once hit.
BACKTEST
Tested on XAUUSD H1 across four independent periods from 2012 to 2026. The
profit factor is modest and varies by period. This is a mechanical system with
filters — not a money printer. Past performance does not guarantee future
results.
