Pullback Nerd

Pullback Nerd

Pullback Nerd is a transparent multi-timeframe trend-following Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5. It is designed to enter market retracements instead of chasing price after a breakout.

Unlike products that hide their trading logic behind vague descriptions, Pullback Nerd clearly explains how its decisions are made.

How the Strategy Works

The EA analyzes three different timeframes:

  • D1 MA100 identifies the primary market direction.
  • H4 MA50 confirms the active trend.
  • M15 searches for a pullback and determines the entry timing.

A trade is opened only when the pullback is aligned with the higher-timeframe trend. Breakout entries are not used.

The EA can open both BUY and SELL positions. Each direction can be enabled or disabled independently.

Stop Loss

Every position receives an initial Stop Loss.

The Stop Loss distance is calculated using the ATR on H4. This allows the protection distance to adjust to current market volatility instead of using the same fixed number of points in every market condition.

Default setting:

  • Initial Stop Loss: 2.0 × H4 ATR

A higher ATR produces a wider Stop Loss. A lower ATR produces a shorter Stop Loss.

Take Profit and Risk Reward

The Take Profit is calculated from the real distance between the entry price and the initial Stop Loss.

Default setting:

  • Take Profit: 6R

For example, if the initial risk distance is 100 points, a 6R target is placed 600 points from the entry.

The Risk Reward target is fully adjustable. Traders can choose a shorter target for more frequent exits or a larger target for longer trend movements.

Trailing Stop

Pullback Nerd includes an ATR-based Trailing Stop.

Default setting:

  • Trailing distance: 1.5 × ATR
  • Fixed target: 6R
  • Immediate trailing: enabled

The trailing system follows favorable price movement while maintaining a volatility-adjusted distance. Immediate trailing can be disabled. When disabled, the trader can select the profit level, expressed in R, at which trailing management begins.

This provides two possible exit mechanisms:

  • The position reaches the fixed Take Profit.
  • The Trailing Stop protects the position and eventually closes it.

Position Sizing and Risk

Pullback Nerd supports percentage-based position sizing.

The requested risk is calculated from:

  • Account equity
  • Selected Risk Percent
  • Entry price
  • Stop Loss price
  • Symbol tick value
  • Broker volume specifications

If the broker’s minimum lot would exceed the selected risk limit, the commercial version rejects the trade instead of forcing an oversized position.

This protection is especially important for small accounts, wide H4 stops and instruments such as XAUUSD.

Trading Controls

The EA provides clear controls for:

  • BUY and SELL trading
  • Percentage risk
  • Maximum spread
  • Trading hours
  • Trade cooldown
  • Maximum market exposure
  • Stop Loss ATR multiplier
  • Take Profit in R
  • Trailing Stop distance
  • Trailing activation
  • Slippage tolerance
  • Magic Number

Settings are organized into simple categories so that both new and experienced traders can understand what each parameter changes.

Recommended Use

The default configuration was developed primarily around XAUUSD using:

  • Chart timeframe: H4
  • Direction analysis: D1
  • Trend confirmation: H4
  • Entry timing: M15

The strategy may also be tested on Forex pairs, indices and other liquid instruments. Results will vary according to the symbol, broker, spread, commission, execution delay and available historical data.

Real-tick testing is strongly recommended before live use.

What Pullback Nerd Does Not Use

Pullback Nerd does not rely on:

  • Martingale
  • Grid recovery
  • Lot multiplication after a loss
  • Breakout chasing
  • Hidden external indicators
  • Guaranteed-profit claims

Every trade begins with a defined Stop Loss and an identifiable Risk Reward structure.

Summary

Pullback Nerd is built around a simple idea:

Find the dominant trend, wait for a pullback, enter with defined risk, and manage the exit using a fixed Risk Reward target and an ATR Trailing Stop.

It is designed for traders who want a readable and configurable MT5 Expert Advisor rather than a black-box strategy with an unclear entry and exit process.

Trading involves risk. Historical performance and backtests do not guarantee future results. Test the EA under your broker’s trading conditions before using it on a live account.
