Nasdaq H1 Breakout Expert
Nasdaq H1 Breakout Expert is an automated breakout trading Expert Advisor developed for MetaTrader 5 and designed specifically for Nasdaq-100 related instruments.
Unlike traditional trend-following systems, this EA focuses on detecting significant price breakouts from recent H1 trading ranges.
The strategy combines channel breakout logic with an ATR-based confirmation filter to reduce exposure to weak or insignificant breakouts.
STRATEGY LOGIC
The EA analyzes the highest high and lowest low of the previous completed H1 candles.
Default Breakout Period: 20 H1 candles
A BUY signal may occur when the latest completed H1 candle closes above the previous channel high by a sufficient ATR-based distance.
A SELL signal may occur when the latest completed H1 candle closes below the previous channel low by a sufficient ATR-based distance.
The breakout candle itself is not included when calculating the previous channel boundaries.
ATR BREAKOUT FILTER
Not every movement above or below a price level is considered a valid breakout.
The EA uses an ATR-based confirmation buffer:
Breakout Confirmation = ATR × BreakoutATRMultiplier
Default BreakoutATRMultiplier: 0.5
This means price must move beyond the previous channel boundary by an additional volatility-adjusted distance before a signal can be accepted.
The purpose of this filter is to reduce trades caused by small or insignificant price movements around important levels.
SUPPORTED SYMBOLS
The EA is designed for common Nasdaq-100 symbol variations used by different brokers, including:
NAS100
US100
USTEC
NASDAQ100
NDX
USTECH100
USTECH_100
Broker-specific suffixes such as .cash, .raw and similar variations may also be recognized.
H1 TRADING SYSTEM
The strategy internally operates on the H1 timeframe.
Signals are evaluated using completed H1 candles to avoid repeatedly reacting to price movements inside the currently forming candle.
DYNAMIC POSITION SIZING
The EA includes automatic risk-based position sizing.
By default, position size is calculated using:
• Available free margin
• Selected RiskPercent
• Stop Loss distance
• Symbol tick size
• Symbol tick value
• Broker minimum and maximum volume
• Volume step
• Available margin
Default RiskPercent: 1%
If the required margin is too high, the EA can reduce the calculated volume. If the minimum permitted trading volume cannot be opened within the available margin, the trade is not placed.
STOP LOSS AND TAKE PROFIT
Risk management adapts to current Nasdaq volatility using ATR.
Default settings:
ATR Period: 14
Stop Loss: 1.5 × ATR
Take Profit: 2.0 × Stop Loss
This creates an initial target of approximately 1:2 risk/reward.
The EA also checks symbol-specific minimum stop distances before sending an order.
DAILY RISK PROTECTION
A daily loss protection mechanism is included.
Default Daily Loss Limit: 3%
When the configured daily loss threshold is reached, the EA stops opening new trades for the remainder of the trading day.

IMPORTANT
Nasdaq-100 instruments may have different symbol names, spreads, contract specifications, tick values and trading conditions depending on the broker.
Breakout strategies can experience false breakouts, especially during sideways or low-quality market conditions. The ATR confirmation filter is designed to reduce this risk but cannot eliminate it.
Always test the EA in the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester using your broker's historical data before considering live trading.
Forward testing on a demo account is also strongly recommended.
