Range Filter MTF — Multi-Symbol, Multi-Timeframe Range Filter
Range Filter MTF brings the classic Range Filter trend/volatility indicator to any symbol and any timeframe, independent of the chart you're viewing it on.
The Range Filter plots a smoothed, adaptive line that hugs price during trends and stays flat during consolidation, changing color (green/red) whenever the underlying trend shifts. It's a favorite for spotting trend direction, filtering noise, and timing entries/exits without repainting.
Key Features
- Any source, any chart — Pull the calculation from a different symbol and/or timeframe than the one you're viewing (e.g., view M15 while the filter calculates on H1, or overlay a related instrument).
- True multi-timeframe accuracy — Source bars are matched to your chart's bars by real timestamp, so the line lines up correctly no matter which timeframe combination you choose.
- Adjustable sensitivity — Configure the Swing Period and Swing Multiplier to tune how reactive or smooth the filter is.
- Clean, non-repainting logic — Calculations follow the original Range Filter algorithm precisely, buffer-for-buffer, so historical values don't change as new bars form.
- Lightweight and efficient — Built for real-time use on live charts without unnecessary overhead.
Inputs
- Source Symbol — Leave blank to use the current chart's symbol, or specify any other symbol.
- Source Timeframe — Leave as "Current" to match the chart, or select any other timeframe.
- Swing Period — Controls the averaging period (default 200).
- Swing Multiplier — Controls the band multiplier applied to the average range (default 3.0).
Whether you trade one instrument across several timeframes or want a higher-timeframe trend filter overlaid on a lower-timeframe entry chart, Range Filter MTF gives you a fast, accurate way to do it.
