HalfTrend ATR Bands & Alerts (MT5) is a trend-following indicator that plots a clean HalfTrend trendline together with ATR-based bands/zones. It provides trend change arrows, optional touch alerts (price touches the trendline), and EA/iCustom signal buffers for automation.
What the ATR Bands/Zones mean
The ATR bands are volatility-aware zones around the trendline:
-
When volatility increases, the bands widen automatically.
-
When volatility decreases, the bands contract.
In practice, you can use the bands/zones to:
-
Visualize “normal” pullbacks: price often retraces into the ATR zone during a trend.
-
Avoid chasing entries: if price is far outside the band, it may be extended.
-
Spot potential trend weakness: frequent deep pulls through the zone can signal choppy conditions.
-
Plan risk context: the zone provides a natural pullback/continuation area.

Best Use / Market Conditions
Works best in trending markets. In sideways / choppy conditions, trend-following systems can generate more whipsaws.
For best results, combine with:
-
a higher timeframe bias (trade lower TF signals in the direction of higher TF), and/or
-
an additional trend filter (MAs, ADX, market structure).
Confirmed vs Current-Bar Signals
-
Confirmed (recommended): signals on closed candles (stable, no intrabar flipping).
-
Current bar (optional): signals may appear on the forming candle and can change while the candle is still open.
How to Use (simple workflow)
-
Trade in the direction of the trendline (uptrend = prefer longs, downtrend = prefer shorts).
-
Use ATR zones to judge pullbacks vs extended moves.
-
Use trend change arrows/alerts when the trend flips.
-
Optional: enable TouchLineAlert to get notified when price returns to the trendline/zone.

FAQ
-
Does it repaint?
Signals are designed as confirmed by default (closed candles). If you enable current-bar signals, they may change intrabar. -
Which timeframes work best?
H1/H4/D1 are generally most reliable. Lower timeframes can work but are more sensitive to noise. -
Can I use it in an EA?
Yes, BUY/SELL signal buffers are provided for iCustom/automation.
