If you value a plainly described, rules-based system over a perfect straight-line backtest, Gold Experience Breakout may be for you.
Gold Experience Breakout is an Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5 that trades XAUUSD (gold) from a single chart.
If you are looking for an EA that doubles an account in a month, this is not it. Gold Experience Breakout is designed for long-term, rules-based trading, with a stop loss on every position and no attempt to recover a loss by trading bigger. It has losing days, losing weeks and losing months. That is normal for this kind of system.
What it trades
Gold Experience Breakout is a portfolio, not a single idea. Several independent rule-based methods trade gold side by side inside one EA, on different timeframes and with different holding times. When one method is out of step with the market, the others keep working. That is the whole point of the product: the result does not depend on one rule staying right.
The rules were fixed from a 10-year test on real tick data and there is nothing to tune. There is no AI, no neural network and no secret indicator.
Trading frequency: in the 2016-2026 backtest the EA opened about 48 positions per month on average.
No grid. No martingale. The order size is never increased after a loss. Every position has a stop loss.
A word of warning
A lot of gold robots are sold with words like "AI", "neural network", "machine learning" or "quantum". Treat those words as a reason to look closer, not as a feature. There is no holy grail in retail trading, and a straight-line backtest is not evidence of one.
Gold Experience Breakout makes no such claim. It applies fixed rules in a systematic way and was tested on ten years of real tick data. The edge shows up over months and years, not days.
Who it is for
- Traders who want a gold component in a portfolio of EAs, without grid or martingale risk.
- Traders who want to start at 0.01 and raise the lot as the account grows, or let the compounding option scale it by balance.
- Traders who are comfortable leaving a VPS running and looking at the account once a week.
Who it is not for
- Anyone who needs a profit this month.
- Anyone who wants to tune parameters. There is nothing to tune; the methods are fixed on purpose.
- Anyone who wants to run it on other symbols. It is built for gold only.
- Anyone who cannot accept a losing month without turning it off. Turning it off after a drawdown is the most common way to lose with a system like this.
How you can run it
- Fixed lot (default). Pick a base lot you can hold through a bad month and leave it.
- Compounding. The lot grows with the account balance in steps and never goes below the base lot.
- Multiplier. Scales all methods together, in either mode.
- As part of a portfolio. Gold Experience Breakout trades gold only, which may give different exposure from FX strategies.
What to expect
- Drawdowns. In the 10-year backtest at a base lot of 0.01 the largest drawdown including floating loss was 397 USD. There are losing months.
- Backtest results do not guarantee future results. Test the EA on a demo account with your broker before using it on a live account, and start with the smallest lot.
Backtest (2016.01 - 2026.10, real ticks, IC Markets, XAUUSD H1 chart, 10,000 USD deposit, no compounding)
- Base lot 0.01: net profit +17,965 USD / profit factor 2.15 / maximum drawdown including floating loss 397 USD / 6,247 trades
- Base lot 0.20: net profit +344,094 USD / profit factor 2.15 / maximum drawdown including floating loss 7,625 USD / 6,265 trades
How to use
- Attach the EA to one XAUUSD chart. H1 is recommended. The EA reads the timeframes it needs by itself.
- Symbol names with a prefix or suffix (for example XAUUSD.r) work. The EA trades the chart symbol.
- Run backtests on H1 (or any timeframe below D1) with real ticks.
- Operation on a chart of any other symbol is not supported and its behaviour is not guaranteed.
Requirements
- MetaTrader 5, hedging account. The EA does not start on a netting account.
- A VPS or an always-on machine is recommended.
- A raw-spread (ECN) account is recommended.
- Two magic numbers are used: the one you enter and that number + 1. Keep both free of other EAs on the same symbol.
- Broker server time is detected automatically. If your broker is unusual, switch to Manual and enter the GMT offsets.
Lot size
order size = Base lot x method coefficient x Lot multiplier x compounding factor
- Each method has its own built-in coefficient between 0.7 and 1.25, so the methods do not all trade the same size.
- Use compounding = false (default): compounding factor = 1.
- Use compounding = true: compounding factor = balance / "Compounding base balance", in steps of 0.1 and never below 1.
- The result is rounded down to your broker's lot step and is never below the broker's minimum lot.
Inputs
- Magic number (781000), Max slippage in points (50)
- Server time: Auto / Manual (Auto), Winter GMT offset (2), Summer GMT offset (3), DST rule (US)
- Base lot (0.01), Lot multiplier (1.0), Use compounding (false), Compounding base balance (0)
- Max lot per order (0 = no split), Child order price offset in points (0)
- Do not hold opposite positions (false)
That is all. There are no settings to optimize and no set files to download.
