SessionPulse US30

SessionPulse US30 is an Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5 developed for US30 trading on the 5-minute timeframe.

The idea behind the EA is fairly simple. It watches a number of specific intraday periods and only takes a trade when the conditions of one of its internal rule sets are met. It is not designed to stay in the market all day or to keep adding positions when a trade moves against it.

Once attached to the chart, the EA handles entries, position sizing, protection and exits automatically.

It does not use Martingale, grid trading or loss-recovery position multiplication.

How it trades

SessionPulse uses several independent trading rules rather than relying on one entry setup.

Depending on the rule, the EA evaluates combinations of price movement, momentum, volatility and the position of price during selected intraday periods.

Not every session produces a trade. If the required conditions are not present, the EA waits.

Only one position is managed at a time.

Positions are closed according to the logic assigned to the active setup. An additional ATR-based emergency stop is used as protection against unusually large adverse movement.

Risk management

Three position-sizing methods are available:

• Percentage of account equity

• Fixed monetary risk

• Fixed lot size

The standard setting uses percentage-based risk.

The EA also checks the broker's minimum and maximum volume, volume step, available margin and applicable stop restrictions before sending an order.

The default risk setting is 2% of account equity. This value can be changed by the user.

The historical test shown in the screenshots was performed with a 4% equity-risk setting. This was the setting used for that particular test and is not the default setting supplied with the EA.

The screenshots also include the test settings, input parameters, balance graph, deal history and additional statistics from the same historical test.

Broker time and sessions

The strategy works with specific intraday times, so broker server time is important.

The default session settings correspond to the server-time configuration used for the published historical test.

If your broker uses a different server time, the Event Shift Minutes input can be used to shift the strategy times without changing the individual rules.

It is a good idea to check your broker's server time before running the EA.

A VPS can be useful if the EA is intended to run continuously.

The EA was developed and historically tested for US30. Using it on another symbol or timeframe may produce different behavior and is not represented by the published test.

Main inputs

Risk Mode
Selects percentage-of-equity, fixed-money or fixed-lot position sizing.

Risk Percent
Percentage of account equity used for position sizing when percentage risk is selected. Default: 2%.

Fixed Risk Money
Fixed monetary risk used when fixed-money mode is selected.

Fixed Lots
Trade volume used when fixed-lot mode is selected.

Emergency Stop ATR
ATR multiplier used for the emergency protective stop.

Cash Open Hour
Broker server-time hour used as the reference for the US cash session.

Cash Open Minute
Minute component of the session reference.

Event Shift Minutes
Moves the strategy session times forward or backward when required for a different broker server time.

Block Any Position On Symbol
Prevents the EA from opening a new SessionPulse trade while another position is already active on the same symbol.

Allow Min Lot Over Risk
Controls whether the broker's minimum lot size can be used when it is larger than the calculated risk volume.

Deviation Points
Maximum allowed order deviation.

Magic Number
Identifier used by the EA for its positions.

Print Signals
Enables additional signal information in the MetaTrader journal.

Before using the EA

Historical results do not guarantee future results.

Different brokers can have different spreads, commissions, contract specifications, server times and execution conditions. These differences can affect both Strategy Tester and live trading results.

Before using the EA on a live account, run it in the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester with your own broker data and check it on a demo account with the settings you intend to use.
