Carry Swap Collector
### Short description
Carry Swap Collector holds the side of a currency pair that earns positive swap and closes each position only when it is in net profit (price plus swap). It is built for calm carry pairs such as AUDCAD and AUDNZD and controls risk through lot size, not through stop-losses.
### Full description
**How it works**
- For every symbol the EA reads the broker's swap rates and opens only on the side that pays positive swap (long or short is detected automatically).
- A position is closed only when price result plus collected swap exceeds your profit target. There is no stop-loss by default: a position in loss stays open and keeps earning swap until it is back in profit.
- If the broker changes the swap so that it turns against an open position, the EA closes that position at the first profit and stops opening new ones on that side.
- Swap rates are re-checked once a day. Open positions are never closed by a re-check.
**Symbol selection**
- Chart symbol only (default), your own symbol list, or all symbols in the Market Watch.
- Broker suffixes such as AUDCAD+, AUDCAD.a or AUDCADm are found automatically.
- Optional filters: minimum swap per lot and day, maximum spread, maximum number of symbols, maximum positions per funding currency.
**Entry modes**
- Single: one position per symbol, a new one after each close in profit.
- Time-staggered: add a position every N hours, up to a maximum per symbol.
- Pip-staggered: add a position every X pips of adverse move, fixed lot.
- Grid/Martingale: add with a lot multiplier on adverse moves and close the whole symbol basket in profit. This mode carries the highest risk.
**Optional exits**
- Friday close: close everything on Friday from a chosen hour if the total result is above X, or always (also at a loss).
- Basket target: close everything as soon as the total result is above X, then start again.
- Hard stop-loss per position in points (off by default, it realizes losses).
**Safety checks**
Before every order the EA checks the trading session, the symbol's trade mode, the account's order limit and the free margin, and rounds the lot to the broker's volume step. If there is not enough margin, the entry is skipped and logged.
**Info panel**
Equity, drawdown, realized profit today/week/total, floating result, open swap and one row per symbol with side, swap per lot and day, number of positions and floating result.
**Recommendations**
- Pairs: AUDCAD, AUDNZD (H1 chart). Check that your broker pays a positive swap on one side; this differs between brokers and account types.
- Account: hedging account for the staggered and grid modes. Raw/ECN accounts with low swap markups suit carry best.
- Lot size: small compared with the balance. Drawdown is controlled only by lot size.
- Run it on a VPS so the EA can close positions at any time.
**Test results (please read)**
- The Strategy Tester applies today's swap rates to the whole history. Backtests over past years therefore overstate the swap income. Only a recent window gives realistic swap figures.
- In my own tests on IC Markets data with a 16-symbol carry basket, the window 2024–2026 (where today's swaps match the real ones) gave about 4% per year with a maximum drawdown of about 11%.
- With the default settings (0.01 lot, single mode, 10,000 USD, H1, 2018–2026) the tester showed +105 USD on AUDCAD and +183 USD on AUDNZD with drawdowns below 1.3%. Small lot, small result.
- If the tested symbol pays no positive swap, the EA trades the side with the better swap in the Strategy Tester only, to show its mechanics, and writes this into the journal. On a live chart it waits until a positive swap is available.
**Risks**
- No stop-loss by default. In a long trend against the carry side, floating losses can become large and last for months.
- Closed trades are almost always in profit because the EA closes only in profit. The equity curve, not the win rate, shows the real risk.
- Brokers can change or remove swaps at any time. A sudden carry unwind (as in the yen in 2024) can cause deep drawdowns.
- Weekend gaps and interest rate decisions move carry pairs.
- Past results do not guarantee future results. Trading with leverage can lose more than the deposit.
