• Strong Candle Detection — SMA method
• Strong Candle Detection — ATR method
• Pure Engulfing Detection
• Confirmed Engulfing Detection
• OR / AND Candle Rule Combination
• 4 Configurable Moving Averages
• EMA or SMA mode
• Optional 4-MA Trend Filter
• Adaptive Supertrend with K-Means Volatility Clustering
• Supertrend Buy/Sell Reversal Signals
• Configurable Visual Markers
• Independent control of individual modules
1. PURE MARUBOZU
The Marubozu module detects candles whose body occupies a high percentage of the complete candle range.
The main calculation uses:
Body Size / Total Candle Range
A candle is considered a Marubozu when its body ratio reaches the configured Body Threshold.
Marubozu Setting
Body Threshold
Default: 0.95
Higher values make the detection stricter because the candle must have a larger body relative to its total range.
Bullish and bearish Marubozu signals are displayed separately.
2. STRONG CANDLE — SMA METHOD
The Strong Candle SMA method identifies candles whose body is significantly larger than the recent average candle body.
The current candle body is compared with the average body size of previous candles.
A candle must first satisfy the Dominant Body condition. After that, its body is compared with:
Average Previous Candle Body × SMA Multiplier
Settings
Average Period
Default: 14
SMA Multiplier
Default: 1.5
Dominant Body Threshold
Default: 0.70
This method is useful when you want to identify candles that show an unusually large body compared with recent price action.
The bullish and bearish signals are displayed with separate markers.
3. STRONG CANDLE — ATR METHOD
The Strong Candle ATR method uses ATR to evaluate whether the current candle has a significantly large range relative to current market volatility.
The candle must satisfy the Dominant Body condition, then its total range is compared with:
ATR × ATR Multiplier
Settings
ATR Period
Default: 14
ATR Multiplier
Default: 1.0
Dominant Body Threshold
Default: 0.70
This gives you a volatility-based alternative to the SMA body comparison.
The SMA and ATR Strong Candle methods operate independently. A candle can satisfy one method without satisfying the other.
4. CANDLE PATTERN RULES — OR / AND MODE
The indicator provides five selectable candle-pattern rules:
Rule 01 — Pure Marubozu
Detects candles satisfying the configured Marubozu body/range threshold.
Rule 02 — Strong Candle SMA
Detects dominant candles whose body is sufficiently larger than the recent average body.
Rule 03 — Strong Candle ATR
Detects dominant candles whose total range is sufficiently large relative to ATR.
Rule 04 — Pure Engulfing
Detects strict bullish and bearish engulfing structures using the current and previous candle.
Rule 05 — Confirmed Engulfing
Uses engulfing structure together with a body-size check and a trend condition.
Each rule can be enabled or disabled independently.
OR MODE
In OR mode, each enabled rule can produce its own signal independently.
Example:
Rule 1 ON
Rule 2 ON
Rule 3 OFF
Rule 4 OFF
Rule 5 OFF
A Marubozu signal can appear when Rule 1 is satisfied.
A Strong Candle SMA signal can appear when Rule 2 is satisfied.
The rules do not need to occur simultaneously.
This mode is useful when you want to monitor several different candle conditions at the same time.
AND MODE
In AND mode, all enabled rules must be satisfied by the same candle before the combined signal is displayed.
Example:
Rule 1 ON
Rule 2 ON
Rule 3 ON
The candle must satisfy:
Marubozu ✓
Strong Candle SMA ✓
Strong Candle ATR ✓
Only then is the combined signal displayed.
If even one enabled condition fails, the combined signal is not displayed.
This allows you to create stricter multi-condition candle confirmations.
IMPORTANT
In AND mode, only the rules that are enabled are required.
For example:
Rule 1 ON
Rule 2 ON
Rule 3 OFF
The candle only needs to satisfy Rule 1 and Rule 2.
5. PURE ENGULFING
The Pure Engulfing module detects bullish and bearish engulfing structures based on the relationship between the current candle and the previous candle.
Bullish Engulfing
The previous candle must be bearish and the current candle must form the required bullish engulfing relationship.
Bearish Engulfing
The previous candle must be bullish and the current candle must form the required bearish engulfing relationship.
This rule is available as Rule 04 and can be used independently or together with other candle rules.
6. CONFIRMED ENGULFING
The Confirmed Engulfing module adds additional confirmation to the basic engulfing structure.
It checks:
• Previous candle direction
• Current candle direction
• Engulfing relationship
• Current candle body size compared with the previous candle
• Trend direction over the configured trend period
Trend Period
Default: 5
The additional body-size and trend requirements are intended to distinguish the Confirmed Engulfing condition from the basic Pure Engulfing rule.
This is available as Rule 05.
7. FOUR MOVING AVERAGES
The indicator includes four configurable Moving Average lines.
MA1
Default Period: 20
MA2
Default Period: 50
MA3
Default Period: 100
MA4
Default Period: 200
All four MAs use the same selected MA mode:
EMA or SMA
Each MA can be displayed or hidden independently.
Each MA also has its own configurable period and chart color.
The MA calculations use the current chart symbol and current chart timeframe.
8. MA-BASED TREND FILTER
The 4-MA structure can optionally be used as a directional filter for the candle-pattern signals.
When Follow Trend is disabled, the candle-pattern rules can generate bullish and bearish signals normally.
When Follow Trend is enabled:
UPTREND
MA1 > MA4
AND
MA2 > MA4
AND
MA3 > MA4
Only bullish candle-pattern signals are allowed.
DOWNTREND
MA1 < MA4
AND
MA2 < MA4
AND
MA3 < MA4
Only bearish candle-pattern signals are allowed.
MIXED / UNCLEAR STRUCTURE
If the three faster MAs are not all above or all below MA4, the MA structure is considered unclear.
No candle-pattern signal is allowed while the MA structure is mixed.
IMPORTANT
The four MA values are calculated internally for the Trend Filter even when one or more MA lines are hidden from the chart.
Therefore, hiding an MA line does not disable its use inside the Trend Filter.
9. ADAPTIVE SUPERTREND — K-MEANS VOLATILITY CLUSTERING
The indicator includes an independent Adaptive Supertrend module.
Unlike the MA Trend Filter, the Supertrend has its own trend calculation based on ATR and volatility conditions.
The Supertrend does not depend on the Follow Trend setting.
The Adaptive Supertrend analyzes a training window of ATR values and divides the observed volatility into three clusters:
HIGH VOLATILITY
Higher ATR conditions.
MEDIUM VOLATILITY
Intermediate ATR conditions.
LOW VOLATILITY
Lower ATR conditions.
A 3-cluster K-Means process is used to classify the current ATR environment.
The three initial cluster centers are controlled by configurable percentile estimates.
The K-Means process repeatedly assigns ATR values to the nearest cluster and updates the cluster centers until convergence or until the maximum iteration limit is reached.
The cluster corresponding to the current volatility condition is then used as the adaptive ATR value for the Supertrend calculation.
This creates a volatility-adaptive Supertrend rather than relying on one fixed ATR value for all market conditions.
10. ADAPTIVE SUPERTREND CALCULATION
The Supertrend uses:
• ATR Period
• Adaptive volatility cluster
• Supertrend Multiplier
• High / Medium / Low volatility cluster estimates
• K-Means training period
• Maximum K-Means iterations
The adaptive ATR is used to calculate the upper and lower Supertrend bands.
The resulting trend state changes when price crosses the relevant trailing band.
The Supertrend line is displayed with different colors for bullish and bearish trend states.
SUPERTREND DEFAULT SETTINGS
ATR Period: 10
Multiplier: 3.0
Training Period: 100
High Volatility Percentile: 0.75
Medium Volatility Percentile: 0.50
Low Volatility Percentile: 0.25
Maximum K-Means Iterations: 50
The Buy/Sell Supertrend arrows can also be enabled or disabled independently.
11. SUPERTREND BUY / SELL SIGNALS
The Supertrend produces reversal signals when its internal trend state changes.
BUY
Displayed when the Supertrend changes from bearish to bullish.
SELL
Displayed when the Supertrend changes from bullish to bearish.
The Supertrend line remains independent from the candle-pattern Trend Filter.
This means you can use:
Candle Rules + MA Trend Filter
and
Adaptive Supertrend
as two separate analytical components on the same chart.
12. VISUAL SIGNAL MARKERS
Different modules use different chart markers so the source of each signal can be identified visually.
Available marker controls include:
• Marubozu marker
• Strong Candle SMA marker
• Strong Candle ATR marker
• Engulfing marker
• Confirmed Engulfing marker
• Combined AND marker
Marker codes can be customized through the indicator inputs.
Bullish and bearish signals are positioned separately around the candle to reduce visual overlap between different signal types.
13. INDEPENDENT MODULE CONTROL
The indicator is designed so that the main modules can be used individually or together.
You can use it as:
• A Marubozu detector
• A Strong Candle detector
• An Engulfing detector
• A multi-rule candle confirmation tool
• A 4-MA trend structure
• An MA-based directional filter
• An Adaptive Supertrend
• Or a combination of these components
This allows the indicator to be adapted to different trading styles and chart setups.
14. EXAMPLE CONFIGURATIONS
SIMPLE CANDLE DETECTION
Enable only Rule 1 for Pure Marubozu detection.
STRONG CANDLE ANALYSIS
Enable Rule 2 and/or Rule 3 to compare candle strength against recent body size and ATR.

17. IMPORTANT NOTES
The candle-pattern rules are calculated independently before the selected OR or AND combination is applied.
The MA Trend Filter is separate from the Adaptive Supertrend.
The Adaptive Supertrend uses its own ATR period and volatility analysis and is not controlled by the 4-MA Trend Filter.
The Moving Average lines can be hidden without disabling their internal use by the Trend Filter.
The indicator is a technical analysis tool. Signals are generated from predefined price-action, Moving Average, ATR, volatility-clustering and trend rules.
No indicator signal guarantees a profitable trade. Always use appropriate risk management and evaluate signals according to your own trading strategy.
