RECOIL TREND MT5 is an Expert Advisor developed for automated trend pullback trading on MetaTrader 5.
The EA waits for price to break out of the Bollinger Bands, treats that break as the impulse, and then waits for price to recoil back into the zone between the fast and the slow moving average. The entry is taken on that pullback, in the direction confirmed by a higher timeframe. It does not trade the breakout itself. It trades the return.
The system combines a two-timeframe trend filter, a Bollinger Bands momentum trigger, a moving average pullback zone, an optional signal-gated position ladder, basket take profit, trailing stop and a full set of execution controls. Every additional entry requires both a minimum price distance and a fresh qualified signal, so the ladder does not build automatically on distance alone.

- Optional new-candle entry filter
- Automatic pip adjustment for 3-digit and 5-digit quotes
- Hedging accounts fully supported, netting accounts supported in single-position mode

RECOMMENDED TRADING CONDITIONS
- Recoil Trend MT5 waits for a specific sequence of conditions to line up on two timeframes at once, so it trades selectively rather than continuously. On a 12-month backtest of EURUSD H1 with default settings it produced roughly ten entries. This is expected behaviour, not a fault. If you need higher frequency, widen the entry timeframe or relax the trend filter before increasing volume.
- All distances are expressed in pips and adapted automatically to the number of decimals used by your broker. On a 3-digit or 5-digit quote the EA uses the standard pip. On instruments quoted with a different number of decimals, gold and indices in particular, it falls back to the point size of that symbol. On a 2-digit gold quote the default grid step of 25 therefore represents 25 points, which is a price move of only 0.25 USD. Check the resulting distances on your own symbol before running the EA.
- Take profit is disabled by default. With the default settings a basket exits only through the trailing stop, the floating cutloss or the optional momentum exit. Set a take profit distance appropriate to your symbol before live use.
- Run a MetaTrader 5 backtest using the "Every tick based on real ticks" model before increasing the trading volume. Results can differ between brokers because of spread, swap, commission, symbol specifications, execution speed, liquidity and slippage.
RECOMMENDED SETUP
- Platform: MetaTrader 5
- Symbol: any liquid instrument, tested on EURUSD and XAUUSD
- Entry timeframe: H1
- Trend timeframe: D1
- Account type: Raw Spread or Raw ECN, low swap
- Account mode: hedging recommended, netting supported in single-position mode
- Recommended starting volume: 0.01 lot
- Recommended maximum positions: 5 to 8
- Recommended volume multiplier: 1.0 to 1.5
The default entry and trend timeframes are sized for intraday trading on H1. Moving the entry timeframe to D1 makes the EA extremely selective, and the trend timeframe should then be moved up accordingly.
RISK MANAGEMENT
Recoil Trend MT5 can increase position size at every level of the ladder. This is the central risk of the product and it must be understood before use.
With a volume multiplier of 1.5, a starting volume of 0.01 lot and a broker volume step of 0.01 lot, the ladder develops as follows. Note that rounding to the volume step pushes the early levels up rather than down, so the real progression is slightly faster than the multiplier suggests.
- Level 1: 0.01 lot
- Level 5: 0.08 lot
- Level 10: 0.62 lot
- Level 15: 4.73 lot
- Level 20: 35.96 lot
At the default limit of 20 positions the basket holds roughly 108 lots in total, from a starting position of 0.01 lot. With the default grid step this ladder develops over a 500 pip adverse move. Set the maximum number of positions to a value your balance can actually survive.
- A maximum of 5 to 8 positions is a far more realistic starting point than the default of 20.
- Set the volume multiplier to 1.0 for a flat-size ladder with no size escalation. This removes the compounding risk entirely while keeping the averaging behaviour.
- Set the maximum number of positions to 1 to disable the ladder and trade single positions only.
- The floating cutloss is the only hard stop on the basket as a whole. Set it to a percentage you are genuinely prepared to lose, and verify that it triggers correctly in the tester before live use.
- Positions are opened without a stop loss. A stop loss appears only once the trailing stop engages, which requires the basket to move into profit by the trailing start distance first. Until then, the cutloss is the only protection.
- Take profit and trailing stop are placed on the server and remain active if the terminal disconnects. The floating cutloss, the momentum exit and the opposite-signal exit are evaluated by the EA on each tick and will not run if the terminal is closed. A VPS close to the broker's trading server is recommended for unattended operation.
- Auto lot scales the starting volume with balance. Verify the resulting volume on your own account size before enabling it, particularly in combination with the ladder.
- New users should begin on a demo account or with the minimum volume until they understand the EA's ladder behaviour and drawdown profile.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. The EA does not guarantee profits. Historical tests and previous results do not guarantee future performance.
2. Backtest results may differ from live trading because of spread, swap, commission, latency, slippage, liquidity and broker execution.
3. This EA can average into a losing position with an increasing lot size. A sustained one-directional move can consume a large part of an account, and in the worst case all of it. Individual positions carry no stop loss at entry. Trade only with money you can afford to lose.
4. Always test the EA under your own broker conditions before increasing the lot size or risk.
5. For stable operation, MetaTrader 5 and Algo Trading must remain active.
6. Product support is provided through the Product comments section and the MQL5 messaging system.
