Strategy Lab Gann Swing Signals (free indicator, MT5)


Backtest figures below are simulated. Past results do not guarantee future results.


What it does

- Builds a classic Gann swing chart: a swing turns after 2 (adjustable) higher highs or lower lows.

- Draws an arrow when a bar CLOSES beyond the last swing top (buy) or swing bottom (sell).

- Every signal shows a Stop Loss just beyond the opposite swing, plus TP1 / TP2 / TP3 at 1x, 2x and 3x the stop distance.

- Optional Gann 1/8 octave levels (0/8 ... 8/8) over a recent range.

- Signals are final when the bar closes. Arrows never move or disappear.


Filters (each can be switched off)

- Trend: only signals in the direction of the daily trend (daily close vs daily EMA 50).

- Volatility: skips "dead" markets where ATR is well below its own average.

- Stop size: skips signals whose stop is tiny (noise) or extremely wide.

- Signals removed by the filters can be shown as small grey dots, so you can see what was skipped.


On the chart

- Each signal draws the entry, SL, TP1, TP2 and TP3 lines with price labels and shaded risk/reward zones.

- Statistics panel: number of signals (raw vs filtered) and how often TP1 / TP2 / TP3 and the stop were hit on your chart's history.

- Optional extra filter: H4 EMA 9/21 direction must agree.

Backtest (simulated, XAUUSD H1, 2021-01 to 2026-10, M1 data with spread, commission and slippage, every signal traded in 3 parts):

the filters turned the raw signals from losing to slightly positive on gold.

- Last 12 months (not used for tuning), filtered: 87 signals, TP1 reached 52.9%, TP2 32.2%, TP3 20.7%, stop before TP1 46.0%, profit factor 1.32 (3-part exit).

- 2021 - Oct 2025, filtered: 405 signals, TP1 49.4%, TP2 26.4%, TP3 19.3%, stop before TP1 49.6%, profit factor 1.07.

- Without filters, 2021 - Oct 2025: profit factor 0.89 (losing).

Results on US30 and NAS100 were mixed to negative. The indicator does not trade; these figures only describe the signals.
