OBV Signal Confluence – Volume Divergence and Trade-Level Analysis for MetaTrader 5
OBV Signal Confluence is a MetaTrader 5 (MT5) technical analysis indicator designed to help traders examine On-Balance Volume (OBV), volume-based momentum, price-volume divergence, and potential trading opportunities within a structured chart-analysis workflow. By combining OBV analysis with configurable signal conditions and supporting filters, the indicator helps traders investigate bullish and bearish momentum shifts, potential trend changes, and situations where volume behaviour may differ from price action. Its signal and analysis features are intended to support confluence-based trading rather than relying on a single indicator or isolated price movement, making it relevant to forex trading, gold (XAUUSD), indices, CFDs, and other instruments where suitable volume data is available. Depending on the enabled settings, traders can use its OBV signals, divergence analysis, confirmation filters, and ATR-based reference levels to help assess potential entries, stop-loss placement, and profit targets alongside market structure, support and resistance, and broader trend conditions. For traders searching for an OBV indicator for MT5, volume divergence indicator, volume confirmation tool, or ATR-based trade-level indicator, OBV Signal Confluence provides a configurable framework for incorporating volume behaviour into technical analysis. Its signals and reference levels are analytical aids, not guarantees of profitable trades.

Main Features
OBV Momentum Histogram
Visualize the difference between On-Balance Volume and its signal moving average. Use the histogram to study changes in volume-derived momentum and its relationship to price action.
Regular Bullish and Bearish Divergence
Identify potential differences between price swings and OBV swings. These divergence patterns can help draw attention to possible changes in momentum, although they do not guarantee a reversal.
Hidden Bullish and Bearish Divergence
Display hidden divergence patterns for additional trend-continuation analysis. Interpret these signals in the context of the prevailing trend and surrounding price structure.
OBV Crossover Signals
Use OBV and its moving average to identify crossover-based Buy and Sell signals. The indicator can display arrows on the main chart, making potential signal locations easier to review.
Optional Confirmation Filters
Configure additional conditions to refine your analysis:
-
Higher-timeframe OBV trend confirmation.
-
ADX trend-strength filtering with a configurable period and minimum threshold.
-
An optional volume filter with an adjustable multiplier.
These filters can be enabled or disabled according to your strategy. They do not eliminate false signals.
Entry, Stop-Loss and Take-Profit Visualization
The indicator can draw reference trade levels using the ATR-based stop distance and configurable reward-to-risk multiples.
-
Entry: A reference level associated with the signal.
-
Stop-Loss: A distance based on the selected ATR period and stop-loss multiplier.
-
Take-Profit 1: The first configured reward-to-risk target.
-
Take-Profit 2: The second configured reward-to-risk target.
-
Take-Profit 3: The third configured reward-to-risk target.
The default stop-loss multiplier is 1.5 ATR, while the three target multiples are 1R, 2R and 3R. These settings can be adjusted to suit different analytical approaches.
The displayed levels are planning references only. They do not represent executed trades, and the indicator does not open, modify or close positions.
Customization
Configure the applied price, OBV moving-average type and period, divergence pivot length, higher-timeframe filter, ADX settings, volume filter, ATR period, stop-loss multiplier and take-profit multiples.
You can also control the visibility of the histogram, regular and hidden divergence markers, chart arrows and trade levels. Popup, push, email and sound alerts can be configured independently.
How to Use the Indicator
Start by observing the OBV histogram and its relationship to the signal average. Review crossover arrows as potential momentum signals, then examine divergence markers for possible disagreement between price and volume-derived momentum.
If desired, enable the higher-timeframe, ADX or volume filters to add further conditions to the analysis. Before considering a setup, evaluate the surrounding price structure, current volatility and potential risk-to-reward profile.
For a complementary main-chart view, use OBV Signal Confluence alongside OBV Heat Candles, which colors price candles according to OBV momentum states.
Important Information
OBV Signal Confluence is a technical analysis indicator, not an Expert Advisor. It does not automatically execute trades or guarantee that signals will be profitable.
OBV uses the volume data available from your broker. For many forex and CFD instruments, this is tick volume rather than centralized market-wide traded volume. Divergence, crossover and filtered signals may fail or occur late, particularly in sideways or volatile conditions.
Test your settings on your intended instrument and timeframe, and apply independent risk management before using signals in live trading.
