Seven Sins Trading Discipline
- Utilitaires
- Version: 1.22
Most blown accounts don't come from not knowing the rules. They come from breaking them in the moment. Seven Sins is there for that moment.
It watches your MetaTrader 5 account. When you break one of your own rules, a "sin card" appears on your charts: what you did, which rule it broke, and a dry one-liner. If one trade breaks several rules, they appear together on one card, with one sound. Get through a whole trading day without a sin and your clean-day streak goes up by one. One sin resets it to zero.
Seven Sins never opens, closes or modifies any trade. It gives no signals and doesn't care whether you made money today. It only checks whether you followed your process.
The seven sins (all limits are yours to set)
I. Greed: the risk to your stop loss is more than your maximum per trade (default 2% of balance). Checked when you open the trade and again whenever you add or move a stop.
II. Wrath: a new trade opened within your cool-down after a losing trade (default 30 minutes).
III. Gluttony: more new trades in a day than your daily cap (default 4).
IV. Pride: no stop loss after the grace period (default 60 seconds), a stop removed, or a stop moved further away.
V. Sloth: a trade opened within your news window (default 15 minutes either side) of a high-impact event for that symbol's currencies, using the MT5 economic calendar.
VI. Envy: chasing. You entered in the direction of a run that was already more than your chase limit times a normal move for that many bars (default 1.5x, over the last 4 bars on M15, with "normal" based on the last 24 hours).
VII. Lust: you closed a trade that one of your EAs opened. The card names the EA. (I built this one for myself, after closing EUR FORGE trades I should have left alone.)
The dashboard
Attach Seven Sins to a spare chart and it becomes a dashboard:
- your clean-day streak and best streak
- today's sins, one tile per sin
- the current trading session (Sydney, Tokyo, London, New York and the overlaps), with a soft background tint that dims before high-impact news
- the next high-impact news event for the currencies you choose
- an EA heartbeat: connection, algo trading on or off, ping and open EA positions. If the connection drops or algo trading is switched off, you get a heads-up card (not counted as a sin).
What it deliberately doesn't do
- It doesn't celebrate winning trades. A win that broke your rules is still a sin.
- It doesn't encourage you to trade more. A day with no trades is a clean day.
- It doesn't promise better results. It reminds you of the rules you set yourself.
How to use it
1. Open a spare chart (any symbol) and attach Seven Sins. It watches the whole account, every symbol, from that one chart.
2. Allow algo trading so it can run. It only reads your account; it never trades.
3. Set your rules in the inputs. Leave your EAs and trading charts as they are.
Good to know
- By default only your manual trades are judged (from PC, phone or web terminal). Turn on "Also judge trades opened by EAs" if you want EA trades judged too. Lust always applies.
- It runs on the MT5 desktop terminal and watches the account logged into that terminal. It works only while MT5 is running; days when MT5 was off are not judged, so your streak neither grows nor breaks.
- Days follow your broker's server time.
- Your streak and today's counts are saved per account and survive restarts.
- Themes: Forge (dark/orange), Ice (dark/blue), Minimal (light), or Custom colours.
- Sounds: a built-in Forge sound pack, MT5 standard sounds, your own files, or off.
- In the Strategy Tester there are no manual trades, so nothing fires there, and the economic calendar is unavailable. Use it on a demo or live account.
