A breakout is only the beginning.
Where should the order wait? How far should the stop be? When should the trailing stop begin to move? Onyx Breakout Gold brings these decisions into a defined MetaTrader 5 workflow: swing-level entries, two configurable modules and ATR-based position management.
You choose the rules before the next setup arrives. The Expert Advisor monitors qualifying levels, places Buy Stop and Sell Stop orders and applies its stop loss, take profit and trailing logic while the terminal is running. The ONYX panel keeps the operating information in view.
Volatility is part of the calculation
Stop, target and trailing distances are calculated from ATR rather than one fixed price distance. As measured volatility changes, the values used by the algorithm change. This is a specific volatility-based mechanism, not a claim that the robot learns on its own or works profitably in every market.
The ONYX approach
ONYX approaches trading as an engineering task: define the entry, calculate exposure, specify position management and examine what happened in testing. Development includes historical MT5 checks and inspection of orders, executions and stop changes. Those checks help examine behaviour; they do not certify future returns.

How it works
- Evaluates price levels through two separately configurable trading modules.

Requirements and important behaviour
MetaTrader 5 hedging account required. The product is intended for evaluation on your broker's gold symbol. Broker suffixes, contract size, tick value, volume step, stops, margin and execution conditions must be checked. No universal minimum deposit, broker compatibility or profitability is promised.
Keep the terminal running, connected and authorised for algorithmic trading. A VPS is optional infrastructure, not included. The chart timeframe does not override explicitly selected strategy timeframes; CURRENT uses the chart timeframe.
Trading hours and the news option restrict creation of new orders. They do not automatically cancel existing pending orders or close positions; orders can trigger outside the entry window. Disabling a strategy also disables this EA's trailing management for that module. Review existing positions and orders before changing settings or removing the EA.
Inputs: identification and sizing
- TradeComment: text attached to orders.
- UID: non-negative instance ID. The instance ID distinguishes the robot's orders and positions. Use distinct IDs and check for Magic collisions with other EAs on the same symbol.
- InpLotCalcMode: predefined percentage profile, custom risk percentage, or fixed lot.
- InpAutoRiskMode: predefined percentage used in profile mode. Default: 0.25% per order.
- InpRiskPercent: custom percentage of balance used in percentage mode, calculated against the initial SL distance. It is not an account-wide risk limit.
- InpFixedLot: volume used in fixed-lot mode. Default: 0.01.
Sizing and execution: in percentage mode, an entry is skipped when the selected risk budget cannot support a permitted broker volume. Fixed volume must match the broker's minimum, maximum and step; invalid values are rejected rather than rounded up. Checks also consider current price constraints, directional volume limits and available margin. These checks cannot reserve funds or guarantee that a pending order will remain affordable when it triggers. Multiple positions and pending orders can create combined exposure. The percentage estimates initial stop-loss price risk, not commissions, swaps, gaps or slippage; actual losses can exceed it. Check the resulting volume and cash risk before live use.
Inputs: the two modules
Names beginning Strategy1 and Strategy2 apply to the corresponding module.
- EnableStrategy1 / EnableStrategy2: enable each module; both default to true.
- Strategy1Timeframe / Strategy2Timeframe: timeframe used for levels and ATR. Both default to H1.
- Strategy1SwingBars / Strategy2SwingBars: swing confirmation window parameter. Defaults: 20 and 10.
- Strategy1LookbackBars / Strategy2LookbackBars: level search depth. Both default to 200; each must be at least 2 × SwingBars + 2.
- Strategy1ATRPeriod / Strategy2ATRPeriod: ATR calculation period. Both default to 21.
- Strategy1ExpiryBars / Strategy2ExpiryBars: pending-order expiry measured from the current module bar's opening time. Both default to 24 bars; this is not a maximum position holding time.
Inputs: exits and execution
ScalpPreset selects a predefined ATR-distance profile. The profile names describe settings, not a guarantee of safety.
Choose Aggressive, Conservative or Defensive to change the combination of target, stop and trailing behaviour. Compare the profiles in the Strategy Tester before use. No profile eliminates trading risk.
ATR is refreshed during operation; initial order SL/TP use ATR at placement. Trailing also applies broker-distance and price checks. These are not fixed cash amounts or guaranteed realised reward/risk ratios. There is no separate configurable break-even switch.
- MaximumSlippage: requested deviation in symbol points, not a guarantee of execution. Default: 10.
- MaxEntryDistATR: maximum distance from current price to the proposed entry, in ATR units. Default: 5.0.
- SHInput / EHInput: entry window in broker-server hours, start inclusive and end exclusive. Defaults: 1 and 24. Midnight-spanning windows are not implemented.
Inputs: news and display
- FilterHighImpact: optional high-impact USD calendar filter. Default: false.
- NewsFilterMinutesBefore / NewsFilterMinutesAfter: entry pause around calendar events. Defaults: 30 / 30 minutes.
- ClientLanguage: retained for settings compatibility; both values use English in this edition.
- ShowPanel: show the on-chart panel.
- ShowChartBackground: show the chart background.
- ShowTradingWisdom: reserved compatibility input; it does not change the current panel.
News limitation: the filter is not simulated in the Strategy Tester. Calendar unavailability does not guarantee an entry pause. A test with news enabled does not establish matching live news-filter behaviour.
Evaluate before live use
Start with the Strategy Tester. Use the Market demo with your broker's data. Review trades, drawdown, transaction costs and execution logs, not only total profit. If the behaviour fits your requirements, choose purchase or one-month rental and evaluate the licensed version on a demo account before live use. Backtests and screenshots illustrate historical operation, not live performance or future returns.

Licensing and installation are handled by MQL5 Market. The Market demo is for the Strategy Tester; it is not a free live-account trial. Purchase and one-month rental are available through the options on this page. Activations are governed by Market and tied to hardware/OS, not a promise of five separate trading-account licences.
Plan for open positions before rental expiry: the Expert Advisor will stop managing them after its licence expires. Use MQL5 messages or product comments for support.
Risk disclosure
Trading can result in substantial losses. Breakouts can fail. ATR-based distances do not make a trade profitable or safe, and stop losses do not guarantee execution at the requested price. Historical tests are not a forecast or promise of future returns.
