Bull Bear Volume - The Volume Indicator That Finally Matches Your Candle Colors
Stop guessing which candles are driving your volume.
Almost every volume indicator on the market plots every bar in the same flat color, no matter what price did. You get a histogram of how much traded, but zero information about who was actually behind it. Bull Bear Volume closes that gap: every single volume bar is painted the exact same color as the price candle that produced it — bull candle, bull-colored volume bar; bear candle, bear-colored volume bar. No cross-referencing, no separate legend to check, no guessing. Look down from the candle to the volume bar directly below it and the color already tells you the story. A configurable moving average then rides on top of the volume bars so you can also see whether that activity is running hot or cold versus its recent average.
Why This Is Different
Most volume tools you'll find in the Market are single-color histograms — every bar the same shade regardless of whether that volume came from buyers or sellers. Bull Bear Volume is built specifically around the idea that your volume pane should read exactly like your candle chart above it: same color logic, same instant recognition, zero mental translation required. If you've ever wished your volume indicator just matched your candles, this is that indicator.
Key Features
- Volume bars colored to match your candles — bar for bar. Each bar is drawn in one of two independent plots: green (bull) when the candle closes at or above its open, and red (bear) when it closes below. This candle-to-volume color match is the core of the indicator. Colors are fully customizable via inputs.
- Built-in Volume Moving Average — Overlays a configurable MA directly on the volume pane so you can instantly compare current volume to its recent average.
- Four MA methods supported — Choose between SMA, EMA, SMMA (Wilder's smoothed), and LWMA to match your own analysis style.
- Fully adjustable inputs — MA period, MA method, bull color, bear color, MA line color, and MA line width are all exposed as inputs — no code editing required.
- Lightweight and efficient — Uses incremental calculation ( prev_calculated ) so it only recalculates new bars, keeping CPU usage low even on fast timeframes or large history.
- Clean separate-window display — Runs in its own indicator subwindow with a dynamic short name showing your selected MA period and method at a glance.
- Works on any symbol and timeframe — Forex, indices, commodities, crypto, or stocks — anywhere MetaTrader 5 provides tick volume.
How It Works
- For every bar, the indicator compares Close to Open . If Close >= Open , that bar's tick volume is plotted in the Bull Volume buffer (green by default). Otherwise it's plotted in the Bear Volume buffer (red by default).
- In parallel, the raw volume series is fed into your selected Moving Average (SMA / EMA / SMMA / LWMA) and plotted as a line across the volume bars.
- The result: a single glance tells you not just how active the market is, but which side is dominating that activity — and whether current volume is running hot or cold relative to its recent average.
How to Use It
- Confirm breakouts: A breakout candle accompanied by a tall bull (or bear) volume bar that spikes well above the MA line adds weight to the move — it suggests real participation, not just drift.
- Spot fading momentum: If price keeps pushing in one direction but the corresponding volume bars are shrinking below the MA line, it can be an early warning that the move is running out of steam.
- Read absorption: Watch for a bar where volume is high but price barely moves — it can indicate large opposing orders absorbing the flow, often preceding a reversal.
- Combine with your existing setup: This indicator is designed as a volume-context layer — pair it with your price-action, trend, or oscillator tools for confirmation rather than as a standalone signal generator.
- Tune the MA to your timeframe: Shorter MA periods (e.g., 10–14) react faster and suit scalping/intraday use; longer periods (e.g., 20–50) smooth out noise for swing analysis.
