GoldenTide — Where Machine Learning Meets Gold
GoldenTide is a single-pair, machine-learning-filtered Expert Advisor purpose-built for XAUUSD. It identifies short-lived overshoot moments at the start of every hourly candle and fades them only when a proprietary CatBoost model agrees. One pair. One job. Done well.
This is the second EA in the Tide series by RyoN, following Nexus Nine. Where Nexus Nine spreads risk across 9 cross pairs, GoldenTide concentrates intelligence on the single most-traded instrument in the world: gold.

What Makes GoldenTide Different
Most gold EAs are scalpers with martingale recovery, or trend-followers that bleed during consolidation. GoldenTide is neither.
The strategy targets a well-documented but rarely-exploited phenomenon: at the start of every H1 candle, price often makes a small directional commitment that gets reversed within the same hour. The EA waits for that commitment to form, then enters the opposite direction — but only when a machine learning model trained on years of historical XAUUSD data confirms the setup.
Most EAs fade every signal. GoldenTide fades only the ones the model rates above a strict probability threshold. Most signals are rejected. The ones that pass have shown a robust statistical edge across multiple market regimes.

Strategy Notes
The model was trained on H1 XAUUSD data with strict time-series cross-validation. Features include momentum oscillators, volatility regimes across multiple periods, higher-timeframe trend alignment, and time-of-day cyclical encoding. A separately fitted isotonic calibrator maps raw model output to true probabilities, ensuring threshold-based decisions stay statistically grounded.
The EA enters a single market position per signal, holds for up to 24 hours, and exits on a fixed ATR-based SL/TP grid. No averaging, no rolling positions, no recovery martingale.
Backtest Reference
Tested on XAUUSD H1, 6 months of 100% real-tick data on a $1,000 USD account with default settings (AutoLot, 1% risk):

Resilience in Volatile Markets
March and April 2026 saw substantial geopolitical-driven volatility in gold, with several sharp intraday reversals and extended trending sessions. GoldenTide weathered this period without any catastrophic trades — its strict ML-based signal filter rejected the majority of low-quality setups during the most chaotic windows, and the fixed ATR-based stop-loss on every entry kept individual trade losses bounded. The strategy is built to survive volatile regimes, not to chase them.

All strategy parameters (entry threshold, SL/TP multipliers, ML thresholds) are locked to match the trained model and are not user-tunable. Tweaking them would break the carefully calibrated edge.
Setup
- Place the .ex5 file in MQL5/Experts/
- Attach to any XAUUSD H1 chart
- Set Lot Sizing Mode to Auto Lot, choose your Risk Percent
- Enable AutoTrading

Backtest Notes
Always run a backtest on your broker's data before going live. Gold price scales and ATR magnitudes have changed substantially over recent years. The strategy's edge has been verified across this regime shift, but execution costs (spread, swap, slippage) vary by broker. Use the AutoLot Risk % to calibrate sizing to your specific drawdown tolerance.
Configure the strategy tester with "Every tick based on real ticks" for the most representative simulation. Bar-only modes will produce overly optimistic results because the strategy responds to intra-bar price action.
Maximizing Returns with Broker Rebates
GoldenTide enters approximately 25 to 30 trades per month on average. Combined with a broker rebate or introducing-broker cashback program, the per-lot cashback may meaningfully improve overall returns. If your broker offers a rebate, take advantage of it.

This EA is a systematic tool, not a guarantee. The ML model has a measurable historical edge, but markets evolve. Past backtest performance does not guarantee future profitability. Always size your positions according to your risk tolerance and use the AutoLot mode as your primary risk control.
