You set up your Expert Advisor. You chose the symbol, the timeframe and the magic number, and left it to work. A few days later you open the terminal and something is off.
- The Expert Advisor is gone from the chart, and you don't know when it stopped.
- The chart is on another timeframe or another symbol.
- Several Expert Advisors and your own trades are mixed together, and you can't tell which result belongs to which.
To find out what happened, you scroll through hundreds of rows in the History tab.
And the one program that could have told you is the one that stopped.
A different way to keep watch
Every trade an Expert Advisor opens carries its magic number, and your account keeps that history even after the Expert Advisor is gone. So instead of relying on the Expert Advisor to report on itself, you can follow its magic number.
That way you always know three things: whether your Expert Advisor is still running, what it has closed, and what it is holding right now. And when it does stop, its record is still there for you to read.
Advanced EA Monitor
Advanced EA Monitor is a small panel that does exactly this. Enter the magic number of your Expert Advisor, and the panel shows its status and results right on the chart.
It keeps working when your Expert Advisor stops
If your Expert Advisor crashes overnight or is removed by accident, the panel shows EA: Missing in red and still shows you everything it did. Copying trades to another account? Put the panel on that account with the same magic number. While copied positions are open, the floating profit and the statistics keep updating there too.
What you see at a glance
Pick Today, 3 Days, Week or Month, and the panel shows the closed trades with wins and losses, the closed profit with gross profit and gross loss, the win rate, and the open positions with their volume in lots and floating profit. Each chart remembers the period you picked. Refresh by hand with one click, or let the panel refresh on a timer you choose.
A year in one view
The Analytics-365 section looks back over the last 365 days: profit factor, expectancy per trade, best and worst trade, risk to reward, closed maximum drawdown, trade Sharpe ratio, the longest winning and losing streaks, and total volume. It is calculated when you ask for it, so it never slows your terminal in the background. Turn off any figure you don't need, or fold the section away.
Your trades, drawn on the chart
Click the button in the panel's title row and the closed trades of your Expert Advisor appear on the price chart: where each one opened, where it closed, a dotted line between them and a small label with the result. Only trades with your magic number are drawn, so other Expert Advisors and your manual trades stay out of the picture.
One magic number, several symbols
If your Expert Advisor trades a basket of symbols under one magic number, the panel adds them all up for you.
Keep the chart where it belongs
Set Force Asset and Force Timeframe, and the chart switches back to the symbol and timeframe your Expert Advisor is meant to run on. It happens on your first click on the chart, so nothing jumps around while the terminal is starting.
Alerts when something is wrong
Choose how often the panel checks (hourly, daily, weekly or never) and whether it shows a popup or also sends a push notification to your phone. You are told when your Expert Advisor is no longer on the chart, when the magic number has no trades in the history, and when no magic number is set. Once the Expert Advisor is back, the alert timer resets, so the next problem is reported right away.
Cent accounts
Set Account Type to Cents 1:100 and every money value is shown in dollars, including the labels on the chart. Ratios and lot sizes stay as they are. You choose this yourself, because MetaTrader gives no reliable way to tell a cent account from a standard one.
Make it fit your chart
Choose a Dark, Light, TradingView or Custom theme with eight colours, and a solid or semi-transparent background. Show everything, statistics only, or just the header. Place the panel in any corner. It scales with your screen, and every figure has a tooltip that explains it.
Numbers you can trust
If you refresh by hand, figures older than five minutes are replaced with a refresh prompt while your Expert Advisor is active, so you never mistake old numbers for current ones. The panel redraws only when something changes, so it stays light on your terminal.
What it doesn't do
It does not trade. It places no orders, changes no positions and writes nothing to your account. It does not judge your strategy either. It simply shows you what your Expert Advisor did.
Start in a minute
- Attach Advanced EA Monitor to the chart where your Expert Advisor runs.
- Enter the Expert Advisor's magic number in the settings.
- Choose how often you want the figures and alerts to update.
From then on, one look at the chart tells you whether your Expert Advisor is working and how it is doing.
