Should the laptop(or computer) be on while an expert is working?

I want to create a robot (expert in MetaEditor) but I have a question: Does my laptop need to be on when the expert is working? For example if a robot wants to work for 5 hours,  should the computer be turn on for 5 hours?

You will either keep your computer on, or you will migrate your trading environment to MQL5 VPS and then you can turn your PC off.

It's important for the software to be running if a trade is open, as if the software is turned off, the EA will not be able to control the trade. Windows updates can cause restarts and sleep mode will stop things running. Overall it's best to have something running on VPS.

Yes – if you want the strategy to work it must be active. It can be active only when it’s opened on active chart on active platform. So, to do this you have to have your computer on or run the EA on some VPS server, then server is always on and allow the strategy to work all the time (even when your computer is off).
