It's a general "zany" about reversing images in Paint. Whoever needs it will translate them from Arabic and reverse them horizontally or vertically.

Cars drive left-handed and right-handed, they just agreed that in one place this way and in another place that way. Right-hand drive apologists (I agree that it's cheap and the only available option in certain regions) will argue that right-hand drive is not dangerous. Moreover, in USA, a right-rule, which will drive on the left will not pass registration, because it excludes various cholivars and damages of sides. So it's still more convenient to stick to the same scheme for perception.

Look carefully at the last link, where and which extrema, where are the inputs and outputs (just caught my eye) You have exactly the opposite.

You catch an extremum and one of the outputs (not an entry) should be at that extremum and if that extremum is confirmed, the next entry should be made. Correspondingly, you minimum need to identify the entry point prior to the identified extremum and the entry point following the confirmed extremum.
