US has put an end to Russia's and China's currency initiatives

TheU.S. financial authorities rejected the idea of replacing the dollar with a new global reserve currency that had recently been put forward by a number of countries, including Russia and China. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and the head of the United States Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke, had to do so today at a hearing in the lower house of Congress under direct pressure from a lawmaker. Minnesota Republican Michelle Bachmann asked them alternately the same question: "Are you prepared to categorically rule out the US moving away from the dollar and into some sort of global currency, as China and also Russia proposed this morning?" "Yes, I am," Geithner replied. "So am I," Bernanke said following him. Their answers, though, were predetermined, as the United States' current dominant role in the global economy and finance relies heavily on the fact that it controls the issuance of the dollar, which in effect plays the role of the world's reserve currency.

__________

What else could they say? It is like asking an addict to voluntarily get off the needle, to offer to earn his daily bread instead of just printing money. The opinion of the States in this matter should be the least interesting, they have a vested interest in continuing to milk and have the whole world and continue to consume more than they produce. That's so great) I wouldn't mind that either).

Other countries and economies, if they do not want to continue to feed the US, need to unite and address the issue... In addition to Russia, China, there is the Middle East, where the same thoughts are floating around too... similar voices are heard in Europe... The question of a national reserve currency is a matter of time, too obvious a competitive advantage is given by the existence of a world money machine....

Dear fellow, you seem to be getting carried away. Take a breath and take five drops.

P.S.

Since when did you become free of propaganda if you only read clones of Russian-language sites.

Timbo, unlike many, at least tries to analyse and express his thoughts. Anybody who's seen Google can google a link.

Type in "collapse of the usa" and you will be happy with a cart full of links. You can type in "collapse of russia" and feed the links here for the fried lovers.

I don't give a shit what he's trying to analyze with his stupid brain.

He's got it all figured out... he reads all kinds of Peelevins, enjoys all kinds of Nemtsov reports (he should have read John Perkins about global corruption).

everyone knows that nemtsov-like freaks get "grants" in washington.

Timbo praises the USA and its "values" and I asked why Iraq was destroyed, you did not get an answer.

It is clear to all reasonable people that the U.S. is a fascist state in its sophisticated modern version.

I don't argue, in Nazi Germany most of the individuals were good, but the system they were part of was their opposite

No one needs to explain what the goals of such a state may be.

The U.S. disfigured Yugoslavia under false pretexts, there is a whole list of what they were really after, starting with the copper industry...

they set fire to the Reichstag, the twins, and they crippled Iraq to gain access to oil and contracts to rebuild the country

Afghanistan was taken to produce drugs, Kosovo was a transshipment base for distribution in Europe

babbling about "democracy" and asking idiotic questions - why do they dislike the USA so much?

who sympathises with timba automatically gets a grade...

A call for an almost socialist revolution in the territory of the rabid bourgeoisie. The successful experience of nationalisation in Venezuela has even Nobel laureates on their backs.

Academics in the West have traditionally held left-wing views and often support socialists/communists, nationalisations and high benefits for all. High salaries and some detachment from real life relaxes them and makes them overly kind.

The idea by Obama and his team of the need to "unload" the banks of toxic securities is quite controversial, it has both supporters and opponents, including Nobel laureates. Time will tell.

Something out of the ordinary, as the state machine in the USA is not in the business of nationalisation and the US Treasury has recently even refused to take any risks on state "aid", saying that all financial distributions to "fight" the crisis should be given to private shippers (quicker to steal).

That's what I don't get. What exactly are you talking about? If you're talking about a trillion dollars to buy a "CDO with guts", the government has promised to provide some guarantees, otherwise the whole idea is doomed to fail. They promised to give details later as the project is very long term and there is no hurry.

That the government does not want nationalisation is understandable as state management of commercial companies is utterly ineffective. It is a universal law of nature, and the US does not want to step on that rake.

I take that as a compliment, I'm no match for the sabre.

US puts an end to Russia and China's currency initiatives

TheU.S. financial authorities rejected the idea of replacing the dollar with a new global reserve currency recently proposed by a number of countries, including Russia and China .

The first to reject the idea on behalf of the Russian government was Kudrin, who publicly made Medvedev look like a fool with the idea of a new currency.

The second would be China, which is the least interested in the idea. The US has dollar-denominated debt, and China has savings. If the dollar deflates, then the US debt will disappear and China's savings will disappear, by the way, both of them have the biggest savings in the world. Who would benefit?

China has been working hard for years to prevent its currency from strengthening. If the dollar disappears, the yuan will become a real strong currency. At the same time, the competitiveness of European and American manufacturers would rise sharply and the competitiveness of Chinese manufacturers would fall. Who will buy Chinese goods when European goods are half the price? China will lose its markets and will become like everybody else, a normal country, no 10-15% GDP growth for several years in a row, no economic superpower, it will be like Belarus, but bigger.

So, are you interested in arguments only for your opinion or for the truth?

So are you only interested in arguments "in favour of your opinion" or in favour of the truth?

Is it worth taking into account the opinion of an analyst such as yourself?

What did you say about Ukraine last year? You said they were going to be fine...

Ukraine is in pre-default state and the orange bastard keeps playing cat and mouse with Gazprom.
