Alternately, on each of the second and fourth rows, add one stitch on each side of the centre front.
Does anyone know how to knit, my wife is going crazy? )
Very confusing phrase for someone who doesn't know.)

Well, somehow a tapered, initially rectangular fabric is knitted. For example, the sleeve is a trapezoid. Clearly, if you knit from shoulder to wrist, the number of loops in the row must be reduced for each successive row. Somehow it has to be done. You have to look in the knitting manual. Well, that's if I understand the task correctly...
P.S.
Yeah, a quick glance around the internet sites showed that the sleeve is knitted from the wrist to the shoulder - it's an extension of the row, not a contraction :( http://www.club-rukodelie.com/needls/trapezia.htm
Ah, here it is http://myknitting.narod.ru/techniques/decrease.htm
That's right - you might have guessed that to reduce the number of loops in a row, you have to cut two adjacent loops as one - which will reduce the row by one stitch.

Yep, a quick look on the internet sites showed that the sleeve is knitted from the wrist to the shoulder - it's a widening row, not a narrowing one :( http://www.club-rukodelie.com/needls/trapezia.htm
It is from the wrist to the shoulder.
Another thing is confusing that it is written in every second and fourth row (it would be easier to write in every second row), my wife asked: and there are only 4 rows then a new cycle? No says again 1,2,3,4; 1,2,3,4 ... )
in general is not clear )
It is from the wrist to the shoulder.

I don't get it.)
it's clear. it's just that the knitting pattern has 4 rows. that's why it's written that way.
I see. It's just that the knitting pattern has 4 rows. That's why it says so.
Andrei, nice picture, but you should remove it - in the context of the current situation it could offend Sanka.
