is there a way to convert an MQL 5 code into an MQL 4 code, using the same system?

I have just try to generate an MT5 EA and I would like if this EA can be converted into an MQL 4 EA

I want to see how it can perform on MT4.

Can anyone help me convert it into an MT4 EA? I will really appreciate, thanks.

Read the following article by @Stanislav Korotky:

Thank you Mr Fernando, I really appreciate your help.

I have read and follow the instruction on that article and at the end the author seemed to have forgotten on how to transferred the source file in to MQL4 and make it work, I think it should have been the lost instruction step. Please check: https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/192758#comment_5963708

Could you please help me.

much thanks, really appreciate.

Unfortunately there is no way to automatically convert a code from metatrader 4 to metatrader 5

They are incompatible in more than one crucial thing

Mr Mladen, I quickly want to ask, let say one ask a developer to convert a MT4 custom indicator into a MT5 custom indicator, could there still be a possibility to generate an EA based on that using the MQL5 wizard?

If you are having such difficulty, then you will either have to:

  • ... hire someone to code your requirements for you, or ...
  • ... dedicate some time and effort to learning the MQL languages (4 and/or 5), learning about the MetaTrader environment and learning general coding skills as well. Reading a few good books will also help.

is there any one who has a free book or know where I can get a free book to learn MQL4 or MQL5.

Why is it that people are always asking for “free” stuff, for an activity such as trading which is about making money?

Support the authors and buy the books. The ones I referenced are not expensive and are available for download.

Put some effort into your research and invest in your trading and coding education!

Don't you think knowledge should be free?

The reason i first ask if there was a free book is because on this forum there are many free stuff, if there is none then i will think about buying those books.

Yes, we should support the author, but isn't there alternative book in the mean time.

Thanks much Mr Fernando.

To be honest - No, I don't think that knowledge should be "free" and I use the word in quotes for a reason.

People unfortunately only value those things for which there was some difficulty in achieving. When it is totally free and easy, they don't value it at all and even going so far as to criticise it.

To be a teacher, or mentor, or author, requires work on their part, that needs to be compensated. They deserve to make a living too.

So, in my opinion, for knowledge to be truely gained or acquired and to be valued, there needs to be some kind of "compensation", be that in whatever form, but never "free".

EDIT: By the way - The online documentation is free, the CodeBase is free, so why not put some effort into reading and learning from that!
