Guts AI

Gold robot for MetaTrader 5 on the H1 chart. Every position has a stop loss on the broker's server. No martingale.
GutsAI trades gold (XAUUSD) on the one-hour chart. At the start of each hour a neural network built into the robot reads the recent gold prices and decides whether to buy, sell or stay out. Most hours it stays out. GutsAI holds at most three positions at a time, all in the same direction, and closes them when the direction turns.
How GutsAI limits risk
- A stop loss on the server for every position, from the moment it opens.
- A lot that follows the balance and the gold price, so that on a large enough balance a stop costs about the same share of it at any gold price.
- A smaller lot after a run of losses. It goes back to normal when the results recover.
- A daily loss limit: after a bad day, GutsAI opens nothing new until the next day.
- An emergency brake that closes the positions if the account falls too far.
- All positions closed before the weekend.
- No new positions while the spread is wide.
The lot never grows to win back a loss.
Choose your risk
Two settings decide the risk.
The risk level: GutsAI Gold Age, GutsAI Unchained or GutsAI Berserk. Gold Age is the default. A higher level opens bigger lots, so one stop costs a larger share of the balance. In the backtest, Gold Age had smaller drawdowns than Unchained and Berserk, and Berserk grew faster while the account was small, with deeper drawdowns.
The balance for each 0.01 lot: 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, 2,500 or 3,000. On a large balance, 2,000 makes every lot about half as big, so a stop loses about half as much, and the account grows more slowly too. Three positions can be open at the same time, so their losses can add up.
The lot is rounded to 0.01 and never goes below the broker's minimum, so on a small balance both settings change less and the levels can trade the same lot. The higher the gold price, the more balance the levels need to trade different lots. The start message tells the lot and what a stop loses. The screenshot "what one stop loses, by balance and risk level" shows the lot and the loss at a stop for each risk level and every balance from 1,000 to 20,000.
Who it is for
- Traders who want a fully automated gold robot.
- Traders who can accept deep drawdowns, or who choose a calmer setting.
Who it is not for
- Anyone who cannot accept a drawdown of 34.8% with Gold Age, or 40.0% with Berserk. Those were the worst in the backtest, and a future one can be deeper.
- Prop firm challenges and accounts with a small daily loss limit. One stop can take a large share of the balance.
Quick start
1. Open an XAUUSD chart on H1 in a hedging account.
2. Attach GutsAI to the chart.
3. Choose the risk level and the balance for each 0.01 lot, and leave the rest at the defaults.
4. Turn on Algo Trading in MetaTrader 5.
5. Keep the terminal running, ideally on a VPS (virtual private server). The stops are on the server, but the daily limit, the emergency brake and the weekend close run inside the robot.
Specifications
- Platform: MetaTrader 5
- Account: hedging (netting accounts are not supported)
- Symbol and timeframe: XAUUSD, H1. Gold symbols of 1 ounce per lot (micro gold) work too, because GutsAI converts the lot to ounces.
- Balance: GutsAI also trades on less than 5,000, but we recommend at least 5,000, and 10,000 if you can. The published backtests started with 10,000. Below 5,000 one stop can cost more of the balance. Cent accounts work the same way with the balance in cents.
- Leverage: 1:100 or higher. With less, choose 3,000 of balance for each 0.01 lot, so the lots stay smaller. GutsAI skips a position when the free margin is not enough.
- Broker: low spreads on gold.
- Broker time: GutsAI measures the broker's time zone by itself in live trading.

Backtest results
These are backtest results, not live trading results. MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester, "Every tick based on real ticks" mode, XAUUSD H1, 2 January 2018 to 1 October 2026, starting balance $10,000, leverage 1:500, each risk level with the other settings at their defaults.
The screenshots show each risk level on two tick data sources: RoboForex ticks, and Dukascopy ticks on RoboForex trading hours. Each one shows the balance, the return of each year, the profit factor (gross profit divided by gross loss), the maximum equity drawdown, the trades and the win rate.
The lot grows with the balance, so the totals compound. In the tester the orders reach the limit of 500 lots, and the balance grows more slowly after that; each screenshot says when. A real broker also limits the lot. The return of each year tells more than the total.
Read this before you buy
- With a balance of 10,000 and gold near $4,150, a stop loses about 8% of the balance with Gold Age and 10% with Berserk; with 1,000, about 10% with any level, more if gold is higher. Several stops can come on the same day.
- In a fast market a stop can fill beyond its price.
- The daily limit and the emergency brake measure the equity of the whole account, so losses of other robots on the same account count too.
- Your results depend on your broker's prices, spreads and execution. Past performance is not a guarantee of future results.
- Try the demo in the Strategy Tester, and run GutsAI on a demo account before you use real money.
