GOLD TEMPORAL RIFT

A Different Perspective on Gold Trading

Gold doesn't always move in predictable trends. Sometimes it breaks through established price levels and continues higher. Other times, it tests the boundaries of a trading range before reversing direction.

Gold Temporal Rift was developed around these two behaviours.

At the heart of the system are Donchian Channels, a price-based method that identifies the highest highs and lowest lows over a defined number of candles. These channels create dynamic upper and lower boundaries that adjust as market conditions change.

Rather than relying on a collection of conventional indicators, Temporal Rift uses these channel boundaries to evaluate how Gold behaves at important price levels.

The result is a fully automated MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor built specifically for XAUUSD.

TWO APPROACHES. ONE TRADING SYSTEM.

BREAK — Trading Beyond the Range

Donchian Channels help identify when Gold moves beyond an established trading range.

When price closes above the upper channel boundary, Temporal Rift evaluates the breakout as a potential buying opportunity.

The system uses the channel structure to establish a protective stop loss, providing a defined reference point for managing the trade.

BOUNCE — Trading the Recovery

Not every opportunity begins with a breakout.

Gold frequently tests the lower boundaries of established price ranges before recovering.

Temporal Rift uses the lower Donchian Channel boundary to identify these potential recovery opportunities. When price behaviour satisfies the system's bullish recovery conditions, a buying opportunity may be identified.

This gives Temporal Rift two distinct approaches to the Gold market: trading potential upward breakouts and identifying recoveries from the lower boundaries of a price channel.

Both approaches operate within the same coordinated trading framework.

RISK IS PART OF THE DESIGN

An entry signal is only one part of a trading system. How the position is sized, protected and managed matters just as much.

Temporal Rift includes:

  • Percentage-Based Risk: Automatically calculates position size using a selected percentage of account equity and the initial stop-loss distance. The default setting is 2%.

  • Fixed Lot Trading: An alternative for traders who prefer a consistent position volume.

  • Three Trade Management Modes: Choose between a fixed risk-to-reward target, a target combined with trailing protection, or trailing protection without a fixed take profit.

  • Structure-Based Trailing: Uses confirmed price swings to evaluate potential stop-loss improvements.

  • Spread Protection: Restricts new entries when spreads exceed the configured limit.

  • Economic News Filtering: Allows trading to be restricted around selected economic announcements.

  • Trading Schedule Controls: Configurable trading hours and trading days.

The objective is not to eliminate losing trades. Losses are an unavoidable part of trading. The purpose of these controls is to establish consistent rules for exposure and position management.

DEVELOPED FOR GOLD. NOT EVERY MARKET.

Temporal Rift is specifically designed for XAUUSD and currently operates on the buying side of the market.

Its Donchian Channel calculations can be configured for different trading timeframes, allowing the system to be evaluated against different Gold trading conditions.

The EA does not need to trade continuously. There will be periods when neither the BREAK nor BOUNCE conditions are satisfied.

This is normal behaviour.

The system waits for its defined conditions rather than generating trades simply to maintain activity.

A CLEAR VIEW OF WHAT THE EA IS DOING

Temporal Rift includes an integrated trading panel designed to make the system easier to monitor.

The interface provides access to trading information, strategy activity, spread conditions, news information and performance monitoring.

Price channels and entry labels can also be displayed directly on the chart, allowing traders to observe the market structures used by the strategy.

The aim is to give traders useful visibility without requiring them to constantly navigate through technical settings.

Default Risk Setting: 2% of account equity per trade

Broker specifications, spreads, execution conditions and available margin can all influence trading results. Minimum-lot restrictions can cause actual risk to exceed the selected percentage.

The recommended approach is to start with the MQL5 Strategy Tester using real tick data, followed by forward testing on a demo account before considering live trading.

Historical performance does not guarantee future results. No automated system can eliminate market risk, and traders should select position sizing appropriate to their circumstances.
