Six Strategies. Three International Indices. One Powerful MT5 Expert Advisor.
Trade the UK100, S&P 500 and Japan 225 from a single MetaTrader 5 chart.
Bartels Global Index Trader is a multi-strategy Expert Advisor (EA) developed in Australia for automated trading across three major international stock indices.
Combining six individually managed trading strategies into one system, Bartels Global Index Trader provides access to trading opportunities in the United Kingdom, United States and Japanese equity markets without requiring multiple Expert Advisors running on separate charts.
Each strategy has its own trading signals, entry conditions, exit rules and position tracking. The strategies operate independently within the EA's overall trading and risk-management framework.
One EA. Three Indices. Six Strategies.
WHY BARTELS GLOBAL INDEX TRADER?
Six Strategies Across Three International Markets
Rather than relying on a single strategy trading one financial instrument, Bartels Global Index Trader combines multiple trading approaches across three major stock indices.
One-Chart Operation
All six strategies operate from a single supported MT5 index chart. There is no need to attach separate Expert Advisors to each market.
Three Selectable Risk Profiles
Choose Conservative, Standard or Aggressive according to your preferred position-sizing approach.
Built-In Trade Management
Automated stop-loss and take-profit placement, scheduled exits, spread filters, position limits and broker-condition checks.
Individual Market Controls
Enable or disable trading on the UK100, S&P 500 or Japan 225 independently.
No Martingale or Grid Recovery
The EA does not use martingale position multiplication, grid recovery or averaging-down recovery systems.
Australian Developed
Independently developed in Australia, with six strategies named after locations on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
THREE INTERNATIONAL STOCK MARKETS
UK100 — UNITED KINGDOM
Trades the UK100 cash index, representing major companies listed on the London stock market.
A dedicated strategy monitors the UK100 for qualifying long-position opportunities.
S&P 500 — UNITED STATES
Trades the S&P 500 cash index, representing 500 leading US companies.
Two separate strategies monitor the market for qualifying opportunities in both buying and selling directions.
JAPAN 225 — JAPAN
Trades the Japan 225 cash index, representing major Japanese listed companies.
Three dedicated strategies monitor the market, incorporating both long and short trading opportunities.
Trading across multiple indices allows the EA to seek signals from different markets. However, equity indices can be correlated, and trading multiple markets does not guarantee lower risk or improved returns.
SIX INDEPENDENT TRADING STRATEGIES
Each strategy is named after a Sunshine Coast location in Australia.
| Strategy | Market | Direction |
|---|---|---|
| Buderim | UK100 | Buy |
| Noosa | S&P 500 | Buy |
| Coolum | S&P 500 | Sell |
| Mudjimba | Japan 225 | Buy |
| Eumundi | Japan 225 | Buy |
| Peregian | Japan 225 | Buy & Sell |
Each strategy operates using its own internally defined market signals, entry conditions, exit rules and position tracking.
The strategies analyse completed market bars using their programmed timeframes. Changing the timeframe of the host chart does not alter the strategies' underlying analysis.
Multiple strategies can monitor the same index without sharing a single entry or exit signal.
The Japan 225 strategies also operate within an additional shared risk budget to control their combined position sizing.
THREE SELECTABLE RISK PROFILES
Bartels Global Index Trader includes an interactive startup panel that allows users to choose between three position-sizing profiles.
CONSERVATIVE — 0.75x
Uses 75% of the original calculated lot size.
Designed for users who prefer smaller position sizes and lower intended exposure relative to the Standard profile.
STANDARD — 1.00x
Uses the original calculated lot size according to the strategy's programmed risk rules.
AGGRESSIVE — 1.50x
Uses 150% of the original calculated lot size.
Designed for users comfortable with larger positions and the associated potential for greater losses.
All calculated position sizes remain subject to broker minimum and maximum volumes, volume increments, available margin and internal risk checks.
Actual executable position sizes may therefore differ from the selected multiplier.
The selected profile affects position sizing, not the strategies' underlying trading signals.
New entries remain paused until a profile is selected. Existing EA-managed positions continue to be managed while the selection panel is open.
Important: Conservative does not mean risk-free. Aggressive settings can substantially increase exposure, drawdown and potential losses.
COMPLETE CONTROL OVER YOUR MARKETS
Users can individually enable or disable each supported index through the EA's Inputs settings.
-
Trade UK100 — On/Off
-
Trade S&P 500 — On/Off
-
Trade Japan 225 — On/Off
Prefer trading only the US and UK markets? Disable Japan 225.
Want to concentrate on Japan 225? Disable the other two indices.
The choice is yours.
Disabling an index prevents new entries on that market. Any existing positions belonging to the EA remain managed while the terminal and EA are operating.
This flexibility also allows users to test individual markets and combinations within the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester, subject to the tester's available data.
AUTOMATED TRADE AND RISK MANAGEMENT
Bartels Global Index Trader incorporates a range of trading controls designed to manage order placement and open positions.
Stop-Loss and Take-Profit Orders
New trades are submitted with predefined stop-loss and take-profit levels determined by the relevant strategy.
Scheduled Position Exits
Strategies can close positions according to their programmed exit conditions and timing rules.
Spread Filtering
New trade entries are subject to spread checks to help avoid trading when transaction costs exceed permitted levels.
Position Limits
Built-in restrictions control the number of permitted positions according to the EA's trading rules.
Risk-Based Lot Calculations
Position sizes are calculated using account balance, the selected risk profile and the applicable strategy's risk parameters.
Shared Japan 225 Risk Controls
The Japan 225 strategies operate within an additional shared risk budget.
Broker-Condition Checks
Orders are subject to broker trading conditions, available margin and supported volume specifications.
No Martingale. No Grid Recovery.
The system does not attempt to recover losses by progressively multiplying losing position sizes or constructing recovery grids.
These controls are designed to manage risk, not eliminate it. Market gaps, slippage, correlated positions and changing trading conditions can still produce substantial losses.
HISTORICAL STRATEGY TESTING
Bartels Global Index Trader has been tested across multiple historical market periods, including:
-
January–December 2024
-
January–December 2025
-
January–September 2026
Testing covers the combined multi-index system rather than relying solely on the performance of individual strategies.
Historical results provide an opportunity to examine how the combined system behaved under the tested market conditions, including periods of changing volatility and market direction.
Please refer to the accompanying Strategy Tester images for detailed backtest results, including profitability, drawdown and trading activity.
When reviewing the results, consider net profit, maximum drawdown, number of trades, modelling assumptions and broker-specific trading conditions.
Historical performance is not a guarantee of future profitability. Simulated trading cannot fully reproduce live execution, liquidity, slippage or changing broker conditions.
AUTOMATED OPERATIONAL MONITORING
Bartels Global Index Trader includes a built-in operational report published to the MetaTrader 5 Experts tab every 45 minutes.
The report provides information on:
-
Enabled trading strategies.
-
Strategies with sufficient calculation data available.
-
Strategies evaluated for potential entries.
-
Strategies reaching order submission.
-
Confirmed entry orders.
-
Current EA-managed open positions.
Strategies waiting for sufficient historical data are identified by name.
This reporting system provides additional visibility into the EA's operation and helps distinguish between periods without valid trade signals and periods when a strategy is waiting for calculation data.
Trading activity is determined by market conditions and strategy rules. The EA does not force trades to maintain a particular trading frequency.

Results can vary between brokers because of differences in spreads, commissions, contract sizes, margin requirements, execution, pricing and historical data.
Users should test the EA using their own broker's data and trading conditions before considering live deployment.
