Noise Area Momentum PROP trades intraday momentum on the US100 / NAS100 index CFD and adds the protection a funded-account challenge needs. It is a separate edition of Noise Area Momentum.
How it trades
For every half-hour of the US cash session, the advisor averages how far the index moved from its 09:30 New York open over the last 14 days. That average move either side of today's open is the noise area. Decisions are made only on the half-hour. Above the upper band it buys, below the lower band it sells, one position at a time; a position is closed or reversed when price closes on the other side of the noise area, and everything is closed just before the 16:00 New York close. The noise-area idea comes from published academic research (Zarattini, Aziz and Barbon, 2024, Swiss Finance Institute); the code, testing and settings are our own.
Built for challenges
- Profit-target lock: when equity reaches the target (10% for Phase 1, 5% for Phase 2) every position is closed and trading stops.
- Daily guard: when today's loss reaches your chosen percentage of the initial balance (3.5% by default), the position is closed and the advisor pauses until the next day, before a typical 5% limit.
- Maximum-loss guard: at 8% below the initial balance everything is closed and trading stops (typical limit 10%).
- Server-side stop: every position carries a real stop loss on the trade server at the remaining daily room, so the daily limit holds even if the terminal or VPS goes offline.
- No new entry when less than 0.75% of daily room is left.
- Execution variation per account: a small random entry delay (up to 90 seconds), lot size variation (up to 5%) and exit time (up to 90 seconds early). The strategy and the trade direction never change.
- Restart-safe: the initial balance and the target and max-loss state survive a terminal restart.
- Initial balance is detected automatically when the advisor is first attached (any size from 10k to 200k), or can be typed in. If it does not fit the account, the advisor refuses to start and explains why.
Dashboard
Status (active, daily pause, target reached, max-loss stop), balance and equity, net result, progress to the profit target, daily loss used and maximum loss used against your firm's limits with colour warnings, today's result, trading days, trades, win rate, profit factor, best and worst day, the current position, today's bands and the next decision time. The panel only redraws what changes, so it does not slow the terminal.
How long does a challenge take?
We ran the advisor over a prop firm's US100 price history (January 2023 to October 2026, 50,000 USD) and replayed a 2-Step challenge (10% target, 5% daily loss, 10% maximum loss, on equity) starting on every trading day:
- LOW (exposure 0.5, daily guard 3%): passed Phase 1 within one year 24% of the time, failed 0%. Backtest +18.3%, maximum drawdown 5.9%.
- MEDIUM (exposure 1.0, daily guard 3.5%, default): passed within one year 58%, failed 0%. Backtest +40.8%, maximum drawdown 10.1%.
- AGGRESSIVE (exposure 1.5, daily guard 4%): passed within one year 88%, failed 2%. Backtest +61.5%, maximum drawdown 15.7%.
The 5% daily limit was never breached at any setting. This is a slow, steady strategy: Phase 1 typically took about 6 months (aggressive) to 10 months (medium). It suits programs without a time limit and will not pass a challenge in a week. Six ready set files (three levels, Phase 1 and Phase 2) and an 8-page PDF guide are available to buyers in the Comments section.
Requirements
- MetaTrader 5 prop-firm or broker account that allows Expert Advisors, with a US100 / NAS100 CFD.
- Any chart timeframe; M5 is convenient.
- Server time: the defaults assume New York time + 7 hours (09:30 New York = 16:30 server), common for GMT+2/GMT+3 servers. Otherwise set Open Hour and Open Minute to your server time at 09:30 New York.
- A VPS is recommended.

- Most prop firms allow Expert Advisors, but some restrict third-party advisors used by many traders or limit the capital allowed on one strategy across a trader's accounts. The execution variation is not a way around any firm's rules. Read your firm's current terms before buying a challenge.
- Guards reduce risk, but a gap or a fast market can move past a stop. The results are historical simulations and will differ from live trading. No advisor can guarantee passing a challenge.
- Try the free demo in the Strategy Tester first, then a demo or free-trial account.
