Golden Box Breakout is an automated Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5 built for gold (XAUUSD).
How it works
Every trading day the advisor measures the highest and lowest price of a fixed server-time window (by default 03:05 to 06:05). When the window closes it draws the box on the chart and places a Buy Stop at the box high and a Sell Stop at the box low. Whichever side breaks first is traded. In the default single-trade mode the opposite order is cancelled as soon as one side fills. If price has already moved through a box edge when the orders are due, the advisor enters that side at market instead. At a fixed daily time (default 18:55) every remaining order is deleted and every open position is closed, so no position is held overnight.
Every position has a stop loss from the moment it is opened. The stop is set as a percentage of the entry price (default 1.0%), so it adapts to the price level of gold automatically. A take profit based on a multiple of the box size is optional.
Risk management
- Risk per trade as a percentage of balance, a fixed money amount, or a fixed lot size
- A maximum-lot safety cap that applies in every mode
- Choice of what happens when the requested risk is smaller than the broker's minimum lot: trade the minimum lot, or skip the trade
- Volume, free margin, broker stop level and pending-order limits are checked before every request, so the server is never sent an order it would reject
- An optional maximum spread for market entries
Prop-firm consistency guard (optional, off by default)
Many funded-account programs require that the best trading day stays below a set percentage of total profit. When this guard is enabled, the advisor keeps a record of every day's account result and calculates how much profit today may reach without breaking that rule. When today's profit gets close to that limit, the advisor closes its positions and stops for the day. You set the percentage your firm uses. A push notification can warn you before the cap is reached. If you also run BTC Box Breakout on the same account in the same terminal, both advisors share one record, so the rule is applied to the whole account.
Other features
- Optional safe pyramiding: adds up to 3 positions as price moves in your favour, each add using the previous entry as its stop loss (off by default)
- Optional randomization of entry time, stop distance, lot size and close time by small amounts (off by default)
- Restart-safe: after a terminal or VPS restart the advisor resumes the day where it stopped and never places duplicate orders
- On-chart status panel showing the box, today's high and low, status and risk settings
- Unique magic number per symbol and account, or set your own, so it runs alongside other advisors

Recommendations
- Symbol: XAUUSD (Gold). The advisor runs on any chart timeframe because it reads 1-minute data internally; H1 is convenient.
- Broker: a low-spread gold account. Wide spreads and high commissions reduce the results.
- Server time: the default times assume a GMT+2/GMT+3 server (the most common setup). If your broker uses a different time zone, shift the box and close times by the difference.
- Minimum balance: about 1,000 USD for the 0.01-lot minimum. At 1.0% stop loss one 0.01 lot of gold risks roughly 40 to 50 USD, so below about 9,000 USD the minimum lot risks more than 0.5% of balance. Use the "If risk is below broker min lot" input to decide what happens then.
- Use a VPS so the advisor sees the box window and the daily close every day.
