Overview -
Mean Reversion Scalper is a fully automated trading robot designed for the MetaTrader 5 platform. As the name suggests, this Expert Advisor operates on the mean reversion principle, identifying overextended price movements and capitalizing on the market's natural tendency to return to its average.
The core logic is built around the Bollinger Bands indicator, one of the most popular and effective tools for identifying overbought and oversold conditions in the forex market. Additionally, the EA incorporates the ADX (Average Directional Index) indicator to confirm sideways or ranging market conditions, helping to avoid false signals. The RSI (Relative Strength Index) is also used to pinpoint overbought and oversold zones. The EA essentially looks for confluence among all these indicators to generate high-probability entry signals.
How It Works -
The EA monitors price action relative to the Bollinger Bands and executes trades when price extends beyond the bands, anticipating a reversal back toward the middle band (the moving average). The ADX indicator is used as a confirmation filter — trades are only considered when the ADX value is below a certain threshold, indicating a sideways or non-trending market, which is the ideal environment for mean reversion strategies. The RSI further refines entries by ensuring that price is in overbought (for sell signals) or oversold (for buy signals) territory.
