Gold Buy Breakout MT5 is a fully automated long-only Gold trading EA for MetaTrader 5, developed specifically for XAUUSD. The strategy is built around a simple idea: instead of trying to predict every short-term movement in Gold, the EA focuses exclusively on bullish breakout opportunities and attempts to participate when price breaks through an established resistance level with sufficient momentum and trend confirmation. Gold Buy Breakout does not open SELL positions. It is intentionally designed as a buy-only breakout strategy. The objective is to combine Gold's long-term bullish bias with selective technical confirmation rather than buying continuously.
Live signal
FYI this EA was running until April on TMGM. I've added it back in August. This EA didn't cause the huge drawdown.
How the Gold Buy Breakout Strategy Works
The EA continuously analyzes recent price action to identify a meaningful resistance level. Before entering a trade, several conditions can be required:- A resistance level must be detected from recent market highs.
- The resistance must have been tested multiple times.
- The range must have existed for a minimum amount of time.
- Price must break above the resistance level.
- An optional buffer can be added above resistance to reduce weak breakouts.
- RSI confirmation can be required.
- The market must be in a bullish trend.
- Price must be above the fast EMA.
- The fast EMA must be above the slower EMA.
- The breakout candle can optionally be required to close above resistance.
- The spread must remain below the configured maximum.
Long-Only Philosophy
Gold Buy Breakout is deliberately different from traditional two-direction breakout robots. It does not attempt to trade every bullish and bearish breakout. The strategy focuses only on BUY opportunities. The idea behind this approach is that Gold can experience strong short-term corrections and bearish periods, but over longer periods it has historically shown a significant upward tendency. Instead of fighting that long-term direction, the EA attempts to participate only when technical conditions indicate that bullish momentum may be returning. This does not mean Gold will always rise, nor does it guarantee profitable trades. The EA can experience consecutive losses, false breakouts and extended periods without strong opportunities.Resistance Detection
The EA searches recent candles for potential resistance levels. A resistance level is only considered relevant when price has interacted with the area multiple times. The main parameters include:- Configurable lookback period.
- Minimum range duration.
- Resistance buffer.
- Multiple resistance-touch confirmation.
Breakout Confirmation
A potential breakout can be filtered using several confirmation mechanisms. RSI Filter The EA can require RSI to exceed a configurable threshold before allowing an entry. This helps avoid entering bullish breakouts when momentum remains weak. Trend Filter The EA uses two exponential moving averages. For a BUY entry:- Price must be above the faster EMA.
- The faster EMA must be above the slower EMA.
- Requiring the completed candle to close above resistance.
- Allowing a breakout when the candle trades above the required level.
Risk Management
Every position is protected by a predefined Stop Loss and Take Profit. The EA supports two position-sizing methods:- Risk-based sizing: lot size is calculated automatically according to the selected percentage of account balance.
- Fixed lot sizing: users can specify a fixed trading volume.
Break-Even Protection
Gold Buy Breakout includes an optional automatic break-even system. When price reaches the configured level of unrealized profit, the EA can move the Stop Loss toward the entry price. A configurable positive offset can also be used, allowing the Stop Loss to be moved slightly above the original entry. This can help reduce the impact of breakouts that initially move in the expected direction but later reverse.Daily Drawdown Protection
The EA includes an optional daily drawdown lock. At the beginning of each trading day, the robot records account equity. If the configured maximum daily drawdown is reached, the EA stops opening new positions for the remainder of that trading day. Trading can automatically resume when a new trading day begins. This feature is designed to prevent repeated entries during unusually unfavorable market conditions.Trading Filters
Gold Buy Breakout includes additional filters that allow the strategy to be adapted to different brokers and trading conditions.- Maximum spread filter.
- Weekday filter.
- Individual day selection.
- Optional hourly trading filter.
- Individual trading-hour selection.
No Grid - No Martingale
Gold Buy Breakout does not use:- Martingale.
- Grid trading.
- Loss-recovery position sizing.
- Averaging into losing positions.
- Increasing lot sizes after losses.
Real Tick Backtesting
At Tested Signals, strategy evaluation is based on real-tick backtesting whenever suitable historical tick data is available. The goal is to test the EA using more realistic intrabar price movements, spreads and execution conditions rather than relying only on simplified candle modelling. The strategy has also been tested across different brokers because Gold prices, spreads, execution conditions and historical data can vary from one broker to another. Backtests are historical simulations and cannot guarantee future results.Broker Differences
Different brokers can produce different results with the same settings. Important differences include:- XAUUSD spread.
- Commission.
- Price feed.
- Historical tick data.
- Symbol specifications.
- Server time.
- Slippage.
- Execution speed.
