Forex Session Intelligence Dashboard
ForexSessions is a comprehensive session awareness indicator that displays real-time trading session boundaries, economic events, and market context directly on your chart. It is designed for traders who use session-based strategies and need clear visual separation of the Sydney, Tokyo, London, and New York trading windows. The indicator automatically adjusts all session times for Daylight Saving Time changes across four regions (Australia, Japan, UK, US) and detects your broker's GMT offset — no manual configuration required.
Session Visualization
Vertical lines mark each session open and close with multi-timezone labels showing the time in session-local, server, and your local timezone simultaneously. Optional colored zones highlight each session period. Session overlap periods (London/New York) are identified automatically. Killzone windows mark the first N minutes after each session opens.
Information Panels
Seven configurable panels stack vertically on the chart:
Session Status — Live open/closed state for all four sessions with pulse animation on active markets.
Next Event Countdown — Large digital timer counting down to the next session open or close, with an LED-style progress bar.
World Clocks — Local time in Sydney, Tokyo, London, and New York, updated every second.
Session Stats — Current session phase (Opening Drive, Mid-Session, Close Rotation) with progress bars and sparkline charts showing the last 5 days of session range history.
Week Status — Day-of-week tracker, weekly progress bar, liquidity level indicator, broker/GMT time display, and a Major Pair Momentum gauge that scans seven pairs to classify market conditions as Quiet, Ranging, Normal, Trending, or Volatile.
Event Radar — The next 5 upcoming economic events sourced from the MQL5 Built-in Calendar, with live countdowns, currency tags, and forecast/previous values. Falls back to algorithmic estimation when calendar data is unavailable.
Volatility Heatmap — A 24-cell hourly heatmap showing historical volatility by GMT hour, calculated from actual price data.
Chart Features
Volume Profile — A price-anchored overlay aggregated from all Market Watch symbols, color-coded by session.
Mini Timeline — A compact session map at the bottom of the chart with a NOW position marker.
NOW Indicator — A vertical line at bar 0 with server clock, "NOW" label, and candle countdown timer that turns red in the last 60 seconds.
Event Lines — Vertical chart lines at upcoming economic event times with impact-colored labels and live countdowns.
Thin Liquidity Zones — Highlights gaps between sessions where no major market is active.
OTE Windows — Optional Optimal Trade Entry zones during London open and the London/New York overlap.
Technical Details
All 68 input parameters are organized into logical groups. Session times, colors, line styles, panel positions, and feature toggles are fully customizable.
The indicator uses incremental object updates (no delete-and-recreate) to prevent screen flashing. Chart event debouncing, calculation throttling, and per-feature caching keep CPU usage low. The 1-second timer provides smooth real-time updates for countdowns and clocks without requiring market ticks.
Works on all forex pairs and timeframes. Compatible with dark and light chart themes (auto-detected). Strategy Tester compatible.
Parameters
Session display: toggle and configure times for each of the four sessions.
Visual: session zones, killzones, overlap glow, boundary markers, pulse effects.
Panels: position, colors, font, toggle each panel independently.
Events: MQL5 Calendar integration, event lines, impact colors, central bank and macro countdowns.
History: configurable days to show and future projection hours.
Performance: debounce timing for chart change events.
