A gold swing EA that trades the second half of a trend leg, not the turning point.
FiboLeg Rider XAUUSD reads market structure on H4. When a fresh swing breaks the previous swing (break of structure) and price then pulls back into the 0.5-0.886 Fibonacci retrace zone of that leg, the EA waits for an H1 change of character back in the trend direction and enters. The target is the 1.618 Fibonacci extension of the same leg.
At a glance
- Built and tuned for gold (XAUUSD / GOLD). Attach to one chart; the EA reads H1, H4 and D1 internally, so the chart timeframe does not matter.
- Trades only in the direction of the D1 trend (daily close vs EMA 200).
- One position at a time. Every order has a fixed stop loss and take profit from the moment it is opened.
- No grid, no martingale, no averaging, no hedging.
- Low frequency: about 10-20 trades per year. Average holding time is several days.
- Works on hedging and netting accounts. No DLLs, no external data.
How a trade is built (sell example, buy is the mirror)
- H4 zigzag (2.0 x ATR) marks swing high H0 and swing low L1, where L1 breaks the previous swing low.
- Price retraces up into the zone L1 + 0.5 ... 0.886 x (H0 - L1). An H4 close above 0.886 cancels the setup.
- Entry: an H1 close below the latest H1 fractal low.
- Stop loss: above the highest point of the retrace + 0.8 x ATR(H4).
- Take profit: H0 - 1.618 x (H0 - L1).
- The setup is skipped if the reward/risk is below 1.0 or the stop is wider than 5 x ATR(H4).
Risk management
- Lot size is calculated from the stop distance so that each trade risks the chosen % of balance (default 1%).
- If even the minimum lot would risk much more than your target (default 3x), the trade is skipped instead of over-risking.
- Spread filter, broker stop/freeze level checks, margin check and market-session check before every order.
- Optional break-even move (off by default).
Backtest (MT5 Strategy Tester, XM history, GOLD H1, 2020.01-2026.10, 1-minute OHLC model, 1% risk)
- 103 trades, profit factor 1.47, win rate 42.7%, max equity drawdown 11.5%.
- Average win is about 2x the average loss; losing streaks of 5 trades occurred.
- The strategy parameters were chosen on 2013-2019 data only; 2020-2026 was not used for tuning.
Past results do not guarantee future results. Expect flat or losing periods of several months.
Recommended setup
- Symbol: XAUUSD / GOLD, any chart timeframe (H1 recommended for the chart drawing).
- Account: 10,000 USD or more for 1% risk with 0.01-lot steps (stops are often 50-250 USD per 1 oz). Use a smaller risk % or a cent/micro account for smaller balances.
- A VPS is recommended; the EA rebuilds its state from history after a restart.
