The Story Behind Volantis
Volantis Micro V3 was not created from the idea that an Expert Advisor needs more indicators, more entry models or more trades to become better.
It started in the opposite direction.
During development, Volantis was originally built as a broader short-term trading framework. Different entry concepts were implemented and tested, including trend pullbacks, breakout retests and liquidity-based reactions.
The purpose was not simply to generate as many signals as possible. The real question was:
Over time, one model became the center of the project.
M101 — Liquidity Sweep + Reclaim.
Instead of continuously looking for reasons to enter the market, Volantis waits for a very specific sequence of events.
This sequence eventually became the foundation of Volantis Micro V3.
Why XAUUSD?
Gold can move aggressively. That is exactly what makes XAUUSD attractive for short-term trading — but it also creates one of the biggest problems for automated systems.
There is a major difference between meaningful price movement and ordinary market noise.
A candle breaking a previous high does not automatically mean that the market wants to continue higher. A move below a previous low does not automatically mean sellers are in control.
Sometimes price moves beyond an obvious level only briefly, activates orders around that level, and then returns immediately.
The EA does not attempt to predict every movement in Gold. It waits for the market to reveal something first.
M101 — Liquidity Sweep + Reclaim
The recommended Volantis configuration focuses exclusively on the M101 entry model.
Price must move beyond a previously identified swing level. Simply touching the level is not enough.
After liquidity is taken, price must move back through the swept level. This helps identify failed continuation.
Volantis can require a meaningful rejection wick beyond the level, adding another layer of confirmation.
Current activity is compared with previous tick volume to distinguish meaningful events from low-activity price fluctuations.
ADX filtering evaluates whether the broader market has sufficient movement before a trade can be considered.
Session, spread, rollover and risk conditions must also be valid before the setup is allowed to enter the market.
From Multiple Models to One Focused System
Earlier development versions of Volantis also included:
- M201 — Trend Pullback + Continuation
- M301 — Breakout + Retest
Both concepts were implemented to allow separate testing. But development produced an important conclusion:
Every additional model increases the number of market situations the system can trade, but it also increases complexity, interactions and assumptions.
For the recommended Volantis configuration:
- M101 Liquidity Sweep + Reclaim — Enabled
- M201 Trend Pullback — Disabled
- M301 Breakout Retest — Disabled
The goal is a focused system built around one repeatable market event.
Market Environment Filters
The recommended configuration uses H1 ADX.
Period: 14
Minimum: 14
ADX is not used to predict direction. It is used to filter weak market environments.
Recommended trading window:
07:00 – 21:00 broker server time
Users should verify their broker's server-time offset.
Volantis can block trading around the daily rollover period.
Current protection window: 23:45 – 00:15 server time
New entries are blocked when spread exceeds the configured maximum.
Recommended maximum: 35 points
The candle must show sufficient rejection beyond the swept liquidity level.
Sweep activity is compared with a rolling average of recent tick-volume activity.
Adaptive Trade Management
ATR-Based Stop Loss
Volantis does not require every trade to use exactly the same stop-loss distance.
The recommended configuration uses:
- ATR Period: 22
- ATR Multiplier: 3.0
This allows the stop distance to adapt as XAUUSD volatility changes.
2.0R Target
The recommended configuration uses an R-multiple target rather than a fixed price target.
Target: 2.0R
If a trade requires a 300-point stop, the target is approximately 600 points away. If another setup requires a 500-point stop, the target becomes approximately 1,000 points.
Break-Even Protection
Current reference configuration:
- Break-Even: Enabled
- Activation: +500 points
- Buffer: +80 points
Once price moves sufficiently in the intended direction, Volantis can reduce the remaining exposure while preserving a configurable buffer.
Trailing Stop
Trailing functionality is included in the EA but is disabled in the recommended M101 configuration.
Integrated Risk & Discipline Layer
The trading logic and risk logic are separated. A valid M101 signal does not automatically mean that a trade is allowed.
Fixed-lot and percentage-based risk sizing are supported.
The EA can limit the maximum number of trades allowed per trading day.
Trading can be locked after a predefined daily loss level is reached.
The EA can stop trading after a configurable number of consecutive losses.
Available margin is checked before orders are submitted.
An optional account-equity drawdown lock is included.

Reference Backtest
Volantis has been evaluated through repeated MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester runs, including testing of session windows, ADX settings, stop structures, targets, trade management and individual entry models.
One reference test displayed in the product screenshots was performed using:

From Backtest to Live Market
Backtesting is important, but a historical simulation cannot reproduce every element of live trading.
Forward monitoring introduces factors such as:
- Real spreads
- Live execution
- Slippage
- Broker conditions
- Actual market sequencing
For that reason, historical testing and live forward monitoring should be viewed as complementary rather than interchangeable.

- Verify your broker's server time.
