Overview

Bollinger Break Filter ADX EA is an automated trading strategy designed to catch explosive momentum moves when price breaks outside the Bollinger Bands envelope. To prevent costly false breakouts during low-volatility or choppy market phases, the EA integrates the Average Directional Index (ADX) as an institutional trend-strength filter.

Trades are executed only when price expansion is backed by adequate momentum, ensuring high precision and robust statistical edge across various market conditions.

Trading Logic

The EA evaluates confirmed candle close values (Shift 1) combined with ADX strength confirmation:

1. BUY Signal (Bullish Breakout)

  • Bollinger Breakout: The close price of Shift 1 must be strictly greater than the Upper Bollinger Band at Shift 1 

  • ADX Momentum Filter: The ADX value at Shift 1 must be greater than or equal to the customizable ADX Threshold, confirming sufficient trend strength.

2. SELL Signal (Bearish Breakout)

  • Bollinger Breakout: The close price of Shift 1 must be strictly less than the Lower Bollinger Band at Shift 1 

  • ADX Momentum Filter: The ADX value at Shift 1 must be greater than or equal to the customizable ADX Threshold , confirming strong downside momentum.
