Price Action Breakdown Indicator
Inspired by Laurentiu Damir's "Price Action Breakdown:
This custom MT5 indicator brings key book concepts to life through clean, non-repainting overlays:
- Fair Value Areas: Red (Value High) and Green (Value Low) bands identify low-volatility consolidation zones where supply and demand are in balance.
- Control Price: Blue dashed median line representing the "fair" agreed price level within the value area – often acts as a magnet or pivot.
- Excess / Rejection Tails: Yellow arrows mark strong wick rejections (upper/lower tails) showing initiative exhaustion or responsive behavior at value edges.
Core Purpose Help traders visualize market balance vs imbalance, spot potential support/resistance from value boundaries, identify rejection zones for high-probability entries, and understand shifts in perceived value.
Key Features
- Pure price action, no oscillators, moving averages, or lagging tools.
- Persistent value areas update only on new consolidations (minimal redraw).
- Customizable inputs: RangePeriod, ATRMultiplier, WickFactor.
- Works on any symbol/timeframe (best on H1+ for framework).
- Non-repainting, reliable in Strategy Tester Visual mode and live charts.
How to Interpret the Indicator
- Price inside bands: Market in balance/accumulation. Focus on mean reversion to Control Price or wait for breakout.
- Price rejecting band with tail arrow: Potential reversal/continuation setup (responsive trading).
- Lower tail near Value Low: possible bullish rejection.
- Upper tail near Value High: possible bearish rejection.
- Breakout from bands: Value shifting (trend development or new range forming).
Initial Appearance Note
On first load, value area lines (red/green) and the control line (blue) may show as sloped/curved across history because the indicator uses the most recent detected level to fill past bars. This is by design (non-repainting persistence). All you have to do is to refresh your chart, and the levels will stabilize into clean horizontal bands, exactly as shown in the screenshots.
Recommended Usage
- Higher timeframes (H1, H4, D1) for overall framework and value area identification.
- Lower timeframes (M5–M30) for precise entry timing on rejection signals.
- Combine with manual discretion, multi-timeframe confirmation, and strict risk management (1–2% risk per trade, R:R ≥ 1:1.5).
- Test extensively in Strategy Tester Visual mode before live use.
