Why is there only trading from 2016?

The reason you’re seeing data starting from 2016 or later and encountering issues like "real ticks discarded" during backtesting is due to the way the historical data is processed. MetaTrader (or the platform you're using) uses minute-based data for backtests, and if the dataset doesn't have sufficient historical tick data for a specific timeframe (like for XAUUSD), it will discard ticks for that period.

If you still encounter any issues with data quality, I recommend ensuring that your historical data is fully loaded and available for the period you're testing.

Hello Gabriel. I Bought Smart Choice 2 days ago. The performance is very good so far, but there is something that is really strange... Every time that will open a trade, it opens and then closes quickly and then open again. My broker is Exness. Do you know what can be?

Thank you for your feedback and for purchasing SmartChoice! I’m glad to hear the performance has been good so far.

Regarding the issue you mentioned about trades opening and closing quickly before reopening, this behavior is typically related to the broker's execution settings or market conditions. Here are a few possibilities:

  1. Order Execution Mode:
The EA uses specific execution modes, such as "Immediate or Cancel" or "Fill or Kill," depending on its settings. Some brokers, including Exness, might handle these orders differently, which can cause trades to close immediately if the desired conditions aren’t met.

  2. Slippage or Spread Changes:
Significant changes in spread or slippage during volatile market conditions can also trigger this behavior. The EA may close the trade quickly if it detects that the trade's initial conditions have changed unfavorably.

  3. Account Type:
Some account types, like cent accounts or those with fixed spreads, may handle trades differently. If you’re using such an account, this could also contribute to the issue.

To troubleshoot this, I recommend creating a demo account with your broker and testing the EA with different execution modes. By doing this, you can determine if another execution mode works better with your broker’s settings.

Some brokers, including Exness, might handle certain execution types (e.g., Immediate or Cancel, Fill or Kill) differently. Testing on a demo account will help you identify the most compatible mode without any risk.

If you need assistance setting up the demo account or testing the modes, feel free to ask—I’m happy to help!

Thank you! I am using Fill or Kill. I will test on demo account for other brokers and settings as weel. Best regards

I have already bought it. I need the user manual. Can you send it to me?

Hello! 😊

Thank you for purchasing the EA. I want to clarify that there is no separate user manual, but I can explain the settings and options available to help you get started:

1. Risk Settings

  • Risk Level ( riskLevel ):
Determines how much of your deposit is risked per trade. Higher risk levels use larger lot sizes.

    • Low: Safest option; uses smaller lot sizes and prioritizes minimal risk.
    • Medium: Balanced risk; larger lot sizes than Low, suitable for moderate risk-takers.
    • High: More aggressive; uses larger lot sizes, higher risk.
    • Extreme: Most aggressive; maximizes lot sizes, highest risk.
  • Trading Style ( TradingStyle ):
    Defines how the EA trades:

    • Conservative:
      • Fewer trades.
      • Focuses on high-probability setups.
      • Suitable for long-term, low-risk strategies.
    • Aggressive:
      • Opens more trades.
      • Takes more risks for higher potential rewards.
      • Best for users willing to tolerate more volatility.

2. Trade Settings

  • Max Spread ( MaxSpread ):
Controls the maximum spread (difference between bid and ask prices) allowed for opening trades.

    • Set a number (e.g., 20): The maximum spread in points (e.g., "20" = 2 pips if the broker uses 5-digit pricing).
    • 0 (Auto): The EA calculates the optimal spread dynamically.
    • -1 (Disabled): The EA will ignore spread checks.
  • Lot Size ( LotSize ):
    Sets the volume of trades.

    • Fixed Lot Size (e.g., 0.1): EA will always use this lot size for trades.
    • 0 (Auto): EA calculates the lot size automatically based on risk level and account balance.
  • Stop Loss Level ( StopLossLevel ):
Determines how far from the entry price (in points) the Stop Loss will be placed.

    • Set a number (e.g., 50): The distance in points for the Stop Loss (e.g., "50" = 5 pips if the broker uses 5-digit pricing).
    • 0 (Disabled): The EA will not use a Stop Loss.

3. Risk and News Management

  • News Times ( NewsTime1 and NewsTime2 ):
Allows you to set times when the EA will avoid opening new trades due to economic news events.

    • Format: "HH:MM" (e.g., "14:30" for 2:30 PM).
    • 0 (Disabled): The EA will ignore news times.
  • News Buffer ( NewsBuffer ):
Specifies how many minutes before and after a news event the EA will stop trading.

    • Example: If set to 15 , the EA will avoid trading 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after the specified news time.

4. Account Settings

  • Account Type ( AccountType ):
Defines the type of account the EA is running on:

    • STANDARD: For accounts with standard spreads and no commissions.
    • ECN: For ECN accounts with lower spreads but added commissions.
  • Order Filling Type ( OrderFilling ):
Specifies how the broker should execute orders:

    • Fire_or_kill:
      • All requested volume must be executed immediately.
      • If not possible, the trade is canceled.
    • Immediate_or_cancel:
      • Executes as much volume as possible immediately.
      • The remaining volume is canceled.
    • Order_filling_return:
      • Execution depends on broker-specific conditions.

5. Other Settings

  • Magic Number ( MagicNumber ):
Unique identifier for trades placed by the EA.

    • Useful if you’re running multiple EAs on the same account.
    • Change the Magic Number for each EA to avoid conflicts.
  • Show EA Name in Comments ( ShowEANameInComments ):
Controls whether the EA’s name appears in the comment field of trades.

    • True : Displays the EA name (helps identify trades in the history).
    • False : Hides the EA name.

Additionally, I recommend testing the EA on a demo account with your broker first (if possible) to check the broker’s order-filling mode and to ensure it's functioning correctly with your broker's conditions . If you’re unsure, it’s always best to confirm with your broker directly.

Lastly, don’t forget to use the M1 timeframe for optimal results.

Let me know if you need further clarification! 😊

I would like to ask you for some advice on setting up variables, such as stop loss. Should I put it at 50 or 0 according to its program?

I would like to ask you for some advice on setting up variables, such as stop loss. Should I put it at 50 or 0 according to its program?

For the stop loss setting, it depends on your risk management preferences and trading strategy.

If you set it to 50, it will specify a stop loss at 50 points from the entry price. This can help limit losses if the market moves against your position.

If you set it to 0, it will disable the stop loss, meaning the EA will not use any stop loss level and will instead rely on other risk management methods.

If you want more flexibility or a different approach to managing risk, you might want to adjust the risk parameters like the risk level or trading style.

You can also test these settings on a demo account to see how the EA behaves under various conditions before applying them to live trading.

Let me know if you need further assistance or clarification.

When I conducted backtesting, the maximum lot size was 0.12 lots. Is this a bug?

When I conducted backtesting, the maximum lot size was 0.12 lots. Is this a bug?

Thank you for bringing this up! 😊

This is not a bug—it's working as intended. The EA has a predefined limit on the maximum lot size it can open per trade to manage risk effectively. For example, in Extreme risk mode, the maximum lot size is capped at 0.12 lots. This is a safeguard to ensure the EA doesn't over-leverage the account, especially during volatile market conditions.

If you'd like to adjust the lot size, you can do so by:

  • Setting a fixed lot size in the LotSize input field.
  • Choosing a lower risk mode (e.g., High, Medium, or Low).

Let me know if you have further questions or need help tweaking the settings!

But for large accounts, the maximum size of 0.12 lots is too small. I think the maximum lot size should be adjusted based on the account funds.

I completely understand your concern—on larger accounts, the maximum lot size of 0.12 lots can indeed feel restrictive. This limit was designed to balance risk, but I agree it might not be optimal for accounts with substantial funds.

I’m currently exploring ways to dynamically adjust the maximum lot size based on the account balance or equity in a future update. This would allow the EA to scale better for larger accounts while still maintaining effective risk management.

In the meantime, if you need a higher lot size, you can manually override it by setting a fixed lot size in the LotSize input field. Just ensure your broker’s margin requirements and risk appetite align with this adjustment.

Thank you again for the suggestion—your feedback helps make the EA better for everyone!

For large account, just open another or multiple charts and attach EA on the account. It's very simple right?

I’d like to inform you that version 3.2 of SmartChoise was specifically updated to address this. The adaptive volume feature in the latest version dynamically adjusts the lot size based on the account balance. This means the EA now scales the lot size appropriately for larger accounts, allowing it to optimize performance without being limited to the 0.12 lot size cap.

is there a bug? the structure of trades suddenly changed (marked in yellow)

The structure of trades is influenced by the Stop Loss (SL) setting. If there’s high volatility and the SL is set too low, it might cause the EA to close trades prematurely, which can alter the trade patterns you’re observing.

To improve performance, you can:

  1. Increase the SL to give trades more room to breathe during volatile conditions.
  2. Use the Hard Stop setting, which manages overall drawdown without closing trades too early.

For a $200 account, the EA automatically adjusts its strategy to trade more conservatively. Depending on volatility and other factors, it might close positions with smaller profits or even at break-even to protect the account.

Purchased. I am not sure about the stop loss. If the parameter is set to 0, does the stop loss change automatically? Also, it does not seem to support the JPY account, so please update it. Also, I don't know how to set the news.
