abandonment of mt4 - page 5

Vladimir:

If you look closely, progress is being made towards increasing rather than decreasing the number of platforms used. Since the start of the competition between MT4 and MT5, 2009-2010, their number has been growing and growing. At https://ru.investing.com/directory/Торговые-Платформы/6 there are already 614 trading platforms listed (for now). What is the point of waiting for the most popular one to leave the market, I don't understand. As if MT4 bothers somebody. If you don't like it - don't use it. But leave the same freedom of choice to others, do not interfere with those who like it. Moreover, there are most of them.

For the record. By https://directory.financemagnates.com/forex-brokers/object_platforms/111/ 11.12.2017 I've calculated what the MT4 abandonment process has come to:

There are 396 FX brokers in total. With MT5 platform there are 46, with MT4 platform there are 285, totaling 331.
There are no MT4 or MT5 for the remaining 65 pieces. Estimated MQ market share = 331/396 = 83.6%.
Only MT5 without MT4 in 9 pieces, 9 out of 331 = 2.72% of companies with platforms from MQ have abandoned MT4.

That's certainly the proportion of companies, but not their customers. It may well be that, on average, there are more clients for companies with MT5 as they have a smaller sample, 46 out of 331 companies. On the representativeness of the sample: 400 companies out of an estimated 2000 with the MQ platform alone:

Of course I haven't done market research, but somehow I haven't come across any DCs with MT5 and no MT4. Because this has to be a very young brokerage company and no one will risk that at the start. On the contrary, you may do as much as you like.

But I think the situation will change quickly.

I haven't checked the data I was counting. As I recall, three out of four forex dealers who started serving Russian residents under our law by March 2018, it is MT5 without MT4. Not to name them, I will say that they are all members of the relevant SRO https://sroafd.ru/novosti/novosti-foreks-dilerov, and at least two of them are established by the oldest Russian DCs.

Apart from that, I searched my lists and I have them marked as MT5 without MT4 (at the time of listing)

Actually, I would like to see a list of MT5-based DCs available on this website.

Alexey Volchanskiy:

Will clearly last longer than that MT3. If only because MQL4-MQL5 languages are almost identical. Personally, as soon as I find a brokerage company with conditions similar to mine, I'll jump from MT4. But so far I don't have any.

I don't think so, it's more, the language is almost the same, the difference is in the calls of internal functions. By and large there is no difference for a trader. The only difference is the terms of brokerage companies.
Also, if it is cheaper for a broker to maintain or buy the mt4 platform from scratch, then mt4 will stay longer.

If there is no financial interest in it, there's no reason to go to Mt5.

Moreover, if it is cheaper for a broker to maintain or buy an mt4 platform from scratch, then mt4 will stay longer.

Yes, I myself would gladly switch to MT5 when brokers will provide the same spreads, commissions, availability of PAMM-accounts and minimum deposit requirements as on Mt4. Mt5 is much better.

The transition to MT5 should give a trader or broker some reasonable "nuts rustling", and if there is no financial interest there is no point in switching.

Moreover, if it is cheaper for a broker to maintain or buy an mt4 platform from scratch, then mt4 will stay longer.

The larger and richer brokerage companies have already connected to MT5, the smaller ones are either using demo or not at all.

Brokers themselves block MT5 spreads.

For reference, spread on average for EURUSD (in new pips):

MT4-Instant = 5-7 --- MT5-Instant = 12-15

MT4-Market= 5-7 (plus 4 commission) total 9-11 --- MT5-Market= 12-15 (plus 4 commission) total 16-19.

The choice is obvious by the trading conditions. The optimum MT4-Instant.

Please send me the link to this brokerage company(MT4-Instant = 5-7), I've never met it. I hope that these conditions are for mere mortals and not for institutional investors?

Morexod:

Judging by the "signals" service, 93% of users prefer MT4. And MT5 flies by like a plywood over Paris.

Judging by the signal copying function, it means that successful traders should be transferred to MT5 and

and it'll drag all the copiers to the latest platform... I think it would be faster...

For 5 years I have been doing all my research only in MT5. It's easier and more convenient to write in mql5, it has a lot of features, although mql4 was recently tightened to the same level as mql5.

Then when TS is ready I translate my code in mql4, it is a lot of troubles, even if languages are similar.

I should do so because of more competitive conditions at the brokers with MT4. The broker with MT5, which I would have liked, is a dime a dozen, but with MT4 there is more than enough.

So for the real trade I have to choose MT4.

If the four will play in a box only a sigh of relief.
