A ban on FOREX for Russians. Is it realistic?

The Central Bank of Russia has again decided to block forex.

What are we going to do?

Quotes:

"Our immediate plans are to allow this service exclusively to qualified investors. Unqualified investors will not be able to be attracted by forex clubs, and this way we will protect our citizens from losing their savings," Shvetsov said. At the same time, the Central Bank plans to block websites of foreign companies offering forex services to Russians.

"We cannot protect the performance of contractual obligations between such service providers and our citizens, as they are outside the Central Bank's regulation," Shvetsov explained.

Of course it is real, now the market will be completely Russian. This means that our brokers or brokerage companies promote this law in order to have more clients. Moreover, as I understand, they have to go to school for a fee in order to become qualified. :) In short, it is a scam.

The site can be accessed using special programs and methods. Metatrader has not been abolished. Prohibiting the transfer of funds to any account is problematic, if not impossible. The bottom line is that there will be shadow forex.

Cut out the criteria for becoming a qualified investor:

  • Has the higher economic education confirmed by the document of the state standard of the Russian Federation about higher education issued by the educational organisation of higher professional education which at the moment of issue of the mentioned document performed certification of citizens in the sphere of professional activity on the securities market or any of the following certificates and certifications: qualification certificate of the financial market specialist, qualification certificate of the auditor, qualification certificate of insurance actuary, ser

In other words, it is not some courses, but a full-fledged higher/additional higher education.

All the criteria can be seen on wikipedia if you need to.

This cannot be the case. It is one thing to engage in activities where poor professionalism can harm other people (such as medicine), then there should be specialist education and so on. But here the harm is not more than self (and not even personally, but only to their material condition), so, any restrictions - this is an infringement of rights. Although this is Russia, so everything can happen, including any infringement of rights. I still don't understand why I can't go out in the evening and play in a casino... I can go to a casino and get drunk, but I can't hang out and play roulette in an intelligent way.

In the end it will all come down to paid courses for obtaining the qualified investor certificate, that is another way for the state to get money from the population.

What's going to happen is that Russian forex will first be taught at an institute and then all the brokers will play at the behest of the Kremlin, i.e. on the news. Sometimes to the advantage and sometimes to the detriment of their citizens. Capitalism is like that, take from your neighbour and become richer.

That's the thing about Russia. I suspect that someone is lobbying very hard for these bills. Maybe Alpha and Otkritie? They aren't interested in small things, but the big players will take the trouble to become qualified. In Russia in recent years, all legislative changes have been made to enrich a small circle of people.

Hmm. Why was my review deleted?

Yes, let them ban it. How many 'qualified investors' is no more than 10,000. Let them eat each other up, on a significant drop in liquidity.

They seem to hold such positions, they should know what is what. But they don't.

I see that Shvetsov has a soft spot for Forex, so fucking caring. Well, we cannot do it without your care.

I also say that investment firms cannot outperform the index, if you look at the pips. And then there are the bank funds and they have the ability to hedge positions

in the futures markets. So they have even worse returns than piffs. They take "trained fools" and think they have the whole world in their pocket.

A snake eating itself uroboros.

I think a deal can be reached with the Central Bank

FIRST - to make a simplified accreditation of foreign brokers with a cash-back pledge of $1 million for a foreign broker to report on accounts of Russian clients. Although the conditions should be the same for Russian and foreign brokers - now the nominal account should be from 100 million rubles. It has become a challenge to convince foreign brokers to essentially open a representative office in Russia. But the threat of being deprived of Russian clients may contribute to this; the question here is how to ban IP connections with such brokers.

SECOND, the personal income tax on forex trading should be increased from 13% to 70% and then the tax should be reduced by 5% every year to 35% in the end.

"Suppose speculators have to be dealt with!" - from/kf "Beware of the Car".

We should approach Shvetsov at the Central Bank. Control of this sphere is necessary, no question, but why deprive adequate foreign brokers and Russian traders of a piece of bread? And the State will not be deprived of taxes. Everything else is a technical matter that can be resolved.
