Philt,

What I will try to do is put together a video over this weekend and post a link here. Right now I have a number of trades I am monitoring, so I can't give this my full focus at the moment. Please watch for an additional posting.

Thank you for your patience.

Reversal:
Simba,

One of the greatest frustrations for me has always been getting a student from a basic understanding to the level of being able to use these techniques effectively before they allow a misunderstanding to cause them to give up. The proliferation of unworkable approaches in this industry spawns a great deal of suspicion, even with legitimate approaches.

The problem with what I teach is that it is a form of advance analysis and a person's background and experience, as well as temperament, can play a role in how quickly this all comes together for them. I have some who have picked it up after a single weekend and from there continued to make profitable trades. I have others who took months of my personal coaching. Each person is different.

Although I am rambling a bit here, basically the point is that you are not alone; there have been others like yourself. I want you to succeed even more than you do. The basic concepts are simple enough, but like anything worthwhile the real beauty of it comes in when you have more than a basic understanding. I consider every student as a friend and so my door is always open. If you email me I would be happy to arrange an on-line session where we can go over a few tips on using the method.

Recently I completed videos on the method, as well as the Balance Targeting method. I have had some incredible feedback on these videos. Videos are so much more powerful than manuals. Still, even after these I will get a few questions. The one thing that has become more apparent is the fact that most who write me obviously now get it and a higher percentage are actually using the method to make money. I had an email from one student yesterday who trades the S&P e-mini. Since the video he has incorporated Balance Dynamics and he wanted to show me yesterday’s results because he had a profit of 17.5 points. Prior to the video he had no clue how to use it even though he had already read the manual, so it has made quite a difference. Still, he also had a question that I have to respond to this morning.

Getting to your real question; yes, you are simply using the closes to determine the reversals just as you are picturing it. Basically, you are switching to a line chart and handling it just as you would normally. I also use a spreadsheet to confirm the times and dates when I find a reversal because it is a little harder to be absolutely sure of the exact time on a line chart using the graphical approach. (I have a number of these I have made up in different formats, so if you would like a different version then just email me)

There is one issue that I need to clarify here; this is used to filter out the noise which is common in the Forex. (There are a few other markets this is helpful for as well) When it is possible I stick with the highs and lows, even though it may be a Forex market. It is a simple matter of determining recent reversals and seeing if noise is a factor. If you are getting reversals off by one or more candles then it is an issue. If it is not an issue then stick with the highs and lows because this will tend to be more accurate, giving you the candle that actually spikes at the point of a reversal, this is of course what we ideally want. Some markets will be fine for a while with highs and lows, but then require filtering when a lot of news events occur, so it is good to check once a week to see how a particular market is doing. Some markets will require using closes all the time.

In the list of markets I have here there are actually a few that are still highs and lows. The first sign of a problem with any reversal will alert me to re-examining how it should be handled.

I hope this helps and let me know if I can be of further assistance.

MJP
