Are you talking about multi time frame mode?
If you are, then that matter was clarified long time ago. If the indicator is working in multi time frame mode then it MUST update all the bars belonging to higher time frame currently still opened bar. If it does not do that THEN it will repaint. Please do not confuse multi time framing with repainting. That was discussed ages ago and that mode is the only correct way how multi time frame can be calculated. All the rest is either approximation of multi time frame or is repainting
