New Firebird EA - page 22

bradman:
seems like FB 10C does ok on AUD/US then after all. i'll keep it on. 2 days and not one open trade that pair. M5

Bradman,

Maybe, you want to try 1-min timeframe. What I've seen of this EA is that it tries to exploit very short term moves (counter-trend) and 5-min chart might not have those many moves for AUDUSD...for 5-min chart, you might want to try more volatile pairs like GBPCHF or EURAUD (of course, the disadvantage is larger spreads and lower PIP value)...

firebird and trend

hello all

i want to ask martha do you keep FB working all the time i mean without manually closing some trades for example

it seems to me that it looses all its gain if the market keep trending

FireBird - Keep it on!

Dear forexx,

Yes, in order to allow the EA to carry the trades unhindered, I keep it on all the time and don't close any trades manually. Please note, that I can afford this as I'm testing this EA on a demo account. However, even in real life, if the EA shows overall profitability, then I won't close any trades manually as then it becomes a second-guessing game between you and the EA on trades..

As I said before, the current forward testing will help us to see if the EA can survive trending markets...unfortunately, AUDUSD has been stuck in a tight range since last month while EURUSD had only one good sized trending move.. from 1.2800 to 1.2500..but, we can count on the market to give us a few more trending moves in these two currency pairs that I'm testing by year end...

FireBird Test Status 25 Oct 2006

So, the EA is holding out against the recent moves in AUDUSD and EURUSD...as you can see, it did incur some losses, but overall doing ok over past month and half..enjoy the graph...

Here comes the frieght train of trending move...

So, here is the impact of a trending move on Firebird...now, this is becoming interesting...

Now that the first trending move is almost over...here is how FB looks.

Well, on the first look, if the stop/loss had been lowered (by say 50%), then the EA would have still regained profitability...let's watch how it handles the last few weeks of 2006...

The problem with EA's is that they work very well in a trending and retracing market. When you have rallies, you get account wipe outs. The secret is in knowing when NOT to use the EA, even if it means taking a small loss in order to avoid a disaster during something like NFP or other crazy news releases.

Hi all

I like Firebird very much but never tought about to set the GMT time in settings. Is it better to set GMT time or leave default as GMT = 0 ? Because my broker has GMT +3. Is it better to set GMT = 3 in setting?
