Does Meta Trader support multiple accounts? I currently have two broker accounts one for long, one for short... can I write a Expert Advisor program that can trade off each?

Run 2 Terminals (each connected to a different account). Just duplicate the MT4 installation dir. If these experts need to communicate then there are various ways to achieve this, but none are trivial.

Hi Alex,
MQ does have a multiple account client. But like most they are supplied by the broker and most won't supply one unless you have multiple accounts with them.

Multi-Terminal cannot run experts; it's only for manual trading.

MT4 supports:

  1. Changing EA's extern params while expert runs.
  2. Manually trading while expert runs (including closing/deleting/modifying the EA's orders).
Note that some EA's support these and some don't... It depends on the specific EA's design.

I have been trading the same strategy on an IBFX account for a few years now using MT4. I have a new strategy that I'm ready to move forward with that I would like to trade in a completely independent account, but also with IBFX. Question is how can I run multiple instances of IBFX MT4 to trade different accounts? I'm assuming it is not possible to manage 2 separate accounts and only have one instance of the platform running?

Copy and paste the installation directory to create a new instance.

You need a separate instance for each separate account, yes.

Thanks that's exactly what I was looking for.
 

I took your advice. I simply copied the directory and started running a different strategy on each platform. But it is always crashing, about 1 minute after opening. Any thoughts?
