EXPERIENCED FOREX TRADERS/EA PROGRAMMERS PLEASE LOOK!!! is a 50%+ portfolio in only 5 days possible? This seems too good to be true... - page 2

sequity:

Hi folks, I have been testing a multitude of systems (EAs) and after many, many lackluster results and complete failures I have come up with one that is giving solid results. That was quite a challenge. I don't believe in backtesting so I just forward test by letting a demo run in realtime and play the moves that way.

It took many modifications and tweaks and tests, but it seems I have nailed it on a demo account. One problem though, it seems too good to be true so naturally I am skeptical. Have a look below. This is on a 1-200 Micro Alpari (US) acocunt. It looks like you can only get a 1-100 Micro Live account though and this demo account is a Micro 1-200 leverage account. Is that the reason for my results below (it is on a demo 1:200 leverage test account vs a 1:100 actual account that a live account can be) or are my lot sizes (based on an Alpari Micro account) just too big to have continued succes over the long term and my lot size for testing is just too aggresive and I have been plain lucky this far and this system will surely fail? I'm fairly new to this FOREX stuff so I am an amateur at best. I am excited though. Margin and drawdown do not seem to be major concerns yet. This is a martingale stratey EA by the way.

Any analysis from some seasoned FOREX traders woud be appreciated. It cannot possibly be this easy can it? a 50% account total gain in just a couple days obviously sounds too good to be true. Honesty is appreciated....

Here are the most recent results....I can see a fatal flaw in the system though as if you let ir run long enough it will fail as will any Martingale system as you will eventually run out of money while doubling down if the losing streak is ling enough. I am working on a strategy to limit the losses. I woud not recommend anyone try this with real money yet.... I am looking for a professional coder to help with another EA idea, totally different than this system but having a bit of difficulty of finding a solid programmer. Anybody have any good programmers to recommend.

I'm just getting started with MQL4, however it is extremely similar to Perl, which I am fluent in. Send me an email at gregcmcse (at) hotmail.com if you're interested in discussing collaboration.

This is a EA for flat market - you are using hedging of positions. This works well until the begining of the trend, but later it will ruin your account.

It works well, and is possible. I have my own EA that makes 120% each week. Show me a statement after 3-6 months and we will see how good the money management is on this EA. Thanks ;)

The difference is that my EA does not use any silly gambling money management as this is evident it never worked for anyone before.

Please forward test it for at least 3-6 months on demo first then decide how it performs. You may want to think about assessing its rules and entry/exits, as well as other aspects of it while you look at each trade result.

Good Luck.

Thanks for all the input to this topic folks. I have been out for a few days so sorry for not responding. I really do not wish to sell this as it has not been proven and I bought the EA code from a guy in a pub in Bangkok who apparantly trades FOREX for a living when we were both half pissed so I can't say how reliable it really can be. (Hard not to be skeptical right?) Anyhow I'm not a programmer and don't understand the code very well, but I do have a friend who does and will try get some help there. The EA is now up 123% since May 21st. I do close it out on weekends as was suggested to me. I would be interested in exchanging this mql code (I do have the source code) in order to share ideas with others who have systems that at least appear profitable during testing, to get some different ideas who will share their code in return. I don't know how long this system will work but I will keep testing. As FXIA suggests this needs a couple months of forward testing... It sure is fun to watch though in demo mode :)

If anyone wants to email me about possible collaborations, EA swapping or just general idea swapping you can email me. shayne.laitila (at) gmail.com as well.

Cheers

Shayne

Testing Update....the EA failed last night. It took a nose dive off a cliff. Back to the drawing board... Is it possible to program some safety into a Martingale stategy or is that really not possible?

Is it possible to program some safety into a Martingale stategy or is that really not possible?

yes - in all seriousness, do not use it and your deposit will thank you for this simple strategy.

Martingale has built in danger - it was birthed for gambling - financial trading should be considered a business - serious businesses do not gamble - they have expenses and income...

Please do consider chasing income in a less risky way...
