Goldy Alpha
Overview
Goldy Alpha is a fully automated Expert Advisor that trades breakouts of swing highs and swing lows. It was designed and tuned for gold (XAUUSD) and can also run on other symbols, because lot size and distances are calculated relative to the price and the value of the symbol.
The EA combines nine independent strategies. Each one has its own timeframe, swing strength, stop loss distance and pending order lifetime. Every trade has a stop loss and a take profit. The EA does not use martingale, grid, averaging or lot multiplication.
How it works
On every new bar of a strategy timeframe, the EA finds the last confirmed swing high and swing low, using closed bars only. It places a Buy Stop slightly above the swing high and a Sell Stop slightly below the swing low. When one side is triggered, the other pending order of that strategy is removed, so each strategy holds one position at a time. A pending order expires after a set number of bars if price does not reach it.
Trade management
Positions are managed with break-even, trailing stop and trailing take profit. An optional H1 swing trailing stop is available, as well as a three-level fake breakout filter: Low (M1), Medium (M1 and M15) and High (M1, M15 and H1). The filter is off by default. Management parameters are expressed in R units by default, meaning multiples of the initial risk.
Risk control and filters
Available protections:
• Economic news filter using the MetaTrader 5 calendar. Default: high impact USD news, 45 minutes before and after, with pending orders deleted during the news window.
• Friday close at 23:50 server time, or earlier if the broker session ends earlier. On hedging accounts, positions in profit can keep running with the trailing stop, according to the input.
• Spread control: no new entries when the spread is too wide, and pending orders that sit too close to the market are removed when the spread widens.
• Daily drawdown limit (set to 0 to disable), useful for prop firm accounts.
• Optional lot reduction during drawdown and an optional entry pause after a defined balance drawdown.
• Free margin check before every order.
Account types and symbols
Goldy Alpha works on hedging and netting accounts. On a hedging account, each strategy owns its position. A netting account allows only one position per symbol, so the EA keeps an internal book of virtual positions. This way each strategy still has its own stop loss, take profit and trailing, while the account holds only the net volume. On a live account the book is saved to a file and restored after a restart. A wide emergency stop protects the net position on the server side.
On symbols other than gold, the lot is calculated from the value of the symbol itself (Risk mode) or matched to a reference gold lot (Auto mode).
Lot sizing
Three modes are available: Risk (percentage of balance, default base 1.0 percent with a weight per strategy), Auto (based on balance and the number of active strategies) and Fixed (fixed lot). The lot is rounded to the minimum, maximum and step of the symbol, with an optional maximum lot cap.
Strategy presets
The Setup input sets the number of active strategies: Extreme Conservative (3), Moderate (7), Extreme (9), and Auto, which uses all nine strategies. Each strategy can also be switched off individually.
Dashboard
A small on-chart panel shows daily, weekly, monthly and total results, and can be minimized with one click. The panel contains no advertising and no links.
Main settings
General: base magic number (default 260100; the EA uses the base magic plus 1 to 9, one per strategy), order comment and slippage. Lot size: lot mode, risk percentage, fixed lot and maximum lot. Entry: entry offset from the swing level and maximum entry distance from price. Stop Loss and Take Profit: stop loss scale and risk reward ratio. Break-even and trailing: trigger, profit lock, trailing distance and step. News, Friday close, Spread and Prop firm: as described above. Universal mode: reference gold price for non-gold symbols and the emergency stop percentage on netting accounts.
Installation and recommendations
Attach the EA to one XAUUSD chart (H1 recommended) and enable Algo Trading. Run one copy of the EA per symbol with the same magic number; a second copy is stopped automatically. A broker with low spreads and stable execution is recommended, together with a VPS for 24 hour operation. The EA needs no DLL and no external files. The economic calendar used by the news filter is a built-in MetaTrader 5 feature.
Results can differ between brokers because of spread, swap and data quality differences. Test in the Strategy Tester and on a demo account before using a real account.
