The Golden Owl is an Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5 that trades gold (XAUUSD). It reads trend, volatility and volume-based money flow on the 1H chart and opens a trade only when its conditions are met. Every trade has a stop loss and a take profit, and the lot size is calculated from the risk you choose.
HOW IT WORKS
The EA draws an adaptive trend line with volatility bands. A trade is considered when price closes outside the band and the trend direction changes. In calm markets the bands narrow, and in stronger moves they widen. Trades are infrequent because the EA waits for a clear change of direction.
MAIN FEATURES
- No grid, no martingale, no averaging down. Each trade is sized on its own.
- Risk-based position sizing: set the percentage of your balance to risk per trade, and the lot size is calculated from the stop loss distance.
- ATR-based stop loss and take profit that adapt to current volatility.
- Two exit modes: fixed take profit, or trailing stop with an optional take profit.
- Optional partial close at the first take profit, with the rest running to a second take profit.
- Optional break even after a distance you choose.
- Time control: block a time window and choose up to two days off. Times are entered in UTC, and the EA detects your broker's server time automatically.
- Optional filters: minimum volatility, Bollinger Band Width Percentile (BBWP) and a major-trend filter.
- Margin limit: caps the share of your equity used as margin by open trades.
- Chart panel: closed trades, win rate, net result in risk units (R) and account currency, and drawdown. Stop loss and take profit boxes are drawn on the chart.
SETTINGS
The default settings are a starting point and can be changed in the inputs window. The default risk is 5% of your account balance per trade. Lower it if you prefer smaller drawdowns. The strategy runs on 1H regardless of the chart it is attached to. If you have questions, send me a message here .
