Dashboard Oscillator Edge Indicator HTF

Dashboard Oscillator Edge

A focused momentum and signal dashboard that reads the market for you and tells you, at a glance, what the trend is doing and when a shift may be starting — without cluttering your chart with numbers you have to interpret.

Two clean oscillator lines run in a sub-window. A compact three-column panel sits wherever you want it on the price chart. Together they give you a single, uncluttered view of momentum direction and early change-of-trend signals.

Why traders use it

Most indicators tell you what has happened. Dashboard Oscillator Edge is built to tell you what is starting to happen — and it does it in plain English, right on the chart.

  • No interpretation required. The panel literally reads BULL or BEAR. You do not have to memorise levels, count bars, or guess.

  • Early signals, not lagging confirmation. The Edge line detects crossover events the moment they occur, so you see a shift building rather than after it has fully played out.

  • Two-timeframe awareness. The CURRENT row shows the live state. The LAST TIME row shows the previously completed signal — so you always see what changed, not just where things stand.

  • Clean chart. Everything is contained in one sub-window and one small panel. No indicator soup.

  • Works on any symbol and any timeframe. Forex, indices, metals, crypto, stocks — it does not care what you trade.

  • Fully customisable. Colours, corner, font size, and column widths are all under your control from the Inputs and Colors tabs.

How it works

The indicator plots two smoothed oscillator lines and one reference line in its own sub-window, scaled between -100 and 0. Three horizontal levels — -20, -50, and -80 — are drawn as white dotted guides.

Oscillator One is the primary trend line. It is drawn thick (width 5) and changes colour with direction:

  • Green when momentum is rising — the panel reads BULL

  • Red when momentum is falling — the panel reads BEAR

Oscillator Two is a second reference line, drawn thin (width 1) and inverted so it moves opposite to Oscillator One. It acts as the trigger line for the strongest Edge signals.

The Edge is a faster, unsmoothed reference line drawn in white (width 1). Its job is to cross the two oscillators and generate the early-warning signals that appear in the EDGE column of the dashboard.

The Dashboard

A compact panel is drawn directly on the price chart (window 0) with three columns:

TIME — Labels the two rows:

  • CURRENT — the live state of the market

  • LAST TIME — the state at the previous active bar

TREND — Reads the direction of Oscillator One:

  • BULL (green cell) when the oscillator is rising

  • BEAR (red cell) when the oscillator is falling

EDGE — Reports crossover events from the Edge line in plain English. Only populated on bars where a crossover occurred:

Event Panel text
Edge crosses above Oscillator One POSSIBLE BULL TREND START
Edge crosses above Oscillator Two POSSIBLE BULL BUY
Edge crosses below Oscillator One POSSIBLE BEAR TREND START
Edge crosses below Oscillator Two POSSIBLE BEAR SELL

Bull events are shown in green, bear events in red. When both an Oscillator Two and Oscillator One crossover occur on the same bar, the stronger Oscillator Two signal takes priority.

Key features

  • Sub-window oscillators with automatic up/down colour switching and seamless bridging at direction changes — no gaps in the line

  • On-chart dashboard with a clean three-column layout

  • Plain-English Edge signals — no codes, no arrows to decode

  • CURRENT vs LAST TIME comparison — see what just changed

  • Confirmed-bar mode — optionally use only completed bars to eliminate repainting of the dashboard state

  • Fully customisable panel position — Lower Left, Lower Right, or auto-centered on the chart

  • Adjustable font size and column widths — the panel auto-sizes to prevent text clipping at any font size

  • Toggle-able LAST TIME row — hide it for a slimmer two-row panel

  • Works on all symbols and timeframes

  • Robust input handling — every input is validated internally; no invalid value can cause an error or crash

Signals at a glance

The dashboard is designed to be read top-down in less than a second:

  1. Look at the TREND column first. That is your directional bias.

  2. Look at the EDGE column. A green EDGE cell in a BULL trend means a bullish continuation signal is forming. A green EDGE cell in a BEAR trend means a possible reversal is starting. The reverse applies for red EDGE cells.

  3. Check the LAST TIME row for context — it tells you what the previous bar reported, so you can see whether the picture is strengthening or flipping.

Traders who prefer to trade with the trend can use EDGE signals in the same direction as TREND as continuation entries. Traders who prefer reversals can use EDGE signals against TREND as early warning of a change.

Inputs

All input parameters are grouped on the Inputs tab for clarity.

Oscillator One

Parameter Default Description
Length 14 Period used to calculate Oscillator One. Lower values react faster; higher values are smoother.

Oscillator Two

Parameter Default Description
Length 14 Period used to calculate Oscillator Two. Controls the sensitivity of the inverted trigger line.

Smoothing

Parameter Default Description
Smoothing Period 9 Smoothing applied to both oscillator lines. Higher values produce a smoother line with fewer direction changes; lower values react faster.

Edge

Parameter Default Description
Edge Length 20 Period used to calculate the Edge reference line. This is the line whose crossovers generate the signals in the EDGE column.

Dashboard

Parameter Default Description
Show Dashboard true Show or hide the on-chart dashboard panel.
Use completed bar true When enabled, the dashboard reflects the last closed bar. When disabled, it updates live on the forming bar.
Show LAST TIME row true Show the second row of the dashboard, which reports the previous bar's state. Disable for a slimmer two-row panel.
Corner Lower Center Where the panel appears on the chart: Lower Left, Lower Right, or Lower Center. Center automatically tracks chart resizing.
X offset (px) 10 Horizontal offset from the chosen corner, in pixels. Ignored when Corner is set to Lower Center.
Y offset from bottom (px) 30 Vertical offset from the bottom edge of the chart, in pixels.
Cell height (px) 22 Height of each dashboard cell in pixels.
Font size 8 Font size used for all dashboard text. All columns resize automatically to prevent clipping when this is changed.
TIME column width (px, minimum) 88 Minimum width of the TIME column. The column grows automatically if the text needs more space.
TREND column width (px, minimum) 100 Minimum width of the TREND column. The column grows automatically if the text needs more space.
EDGE column width (px, minimum) 200 Minimum width of the EDGE column. The column grows automatically to fit the longest signal text.

Colours

All plot colours are editable from the Colors tab in the indicator properties dialog:

  • Oscillator One Up — default Lime

  • Oscillator One Down — default Red

  • Oscillator Two Up — default Red

  • Oscillator Two Down — default Lime

  • Edge — default White

Levels -20, -50, and -80 are drawn as white dotted lines by default.

Recommended settings

The default configuration is a good starting point on most markets and timeframes. If you want to experiment:

  • Faster signals: Reduce Edge Length to 10–14 and Smoothing Period to 5–7.

  • Smoother, fewer signals: Increase Edge Length to 25–30 and Smoothing Period to 14–21.

  • Scalping: Use on M1–M15 with Edge Length = 10 and Smoothing Period = 5.

  • Swing trading: Use on H1–H4 with default settings or slightly higher Edge Length.

  • Panel too large? Reduce Font size — every column resizes automatically.

  • Panel in the way? Change Corner to move it, or disable Show Dashboard entirely.

What it is not

This is a decision-support tool, not an automated trading system. It does not place orders, manage positions, or guarantee profits. It is designed to help you read momentum and crossover events faster and more consistently than reading raw indicators alone. Always combine any signal with your own analysis, risk management, and trading plan.

Compatibility

  • Platform: MetaTrader 5

  • Account type: Any (works on both netting and hedging accounts)

  • Symbols: All — forex, indices, commodities, metals, crypto, stocks

  • Timeframes: All — from M1 to MN

  • Multiple instances: Yes — attach to as many charts as you like

Support

If you find a bug or have a suggestion, please leave a comment in the product discussion tab. I read every message and improve the indicator based on user feedback. Updates are free for all buyers.
