I have received some feedback that some of the set files I introduced 2 months ago, based on the 2021 Moving Average EA MT5 backtests, were not doing that great at the beginning of 2022.

I was also 'instructed' that a longer period of optimization, 2-3 years back instead of the 12 month optimization I am usually doing, would produce better and more adaptable to all kinds of market results.

In the previous 2 months, I've performed optimizations for a few symbols, based on a 3 year period (2019-2021) but I regret to say that the set files I produced were performing worse in 2022 than those that were based on 2021 alone.

So my idea that a closer to current market optimization would work better on the future market, is not that far from truth after all.

From now on all the optimizations I will perform will be based on the following sequence:

1. Two months after the 12 month period I want to optimize, I will perform new optimizations for all symbols, based on the prior to these 2 months period, for example I did new optimizations in February for the entire 2021.

2. I will test the best results that come out of that optimization, on the entire 12 month + 2 extra months period that has already passed, so in this example I backtested all optimized results on the entire 2021, plus Jan-Feb of 2022.

3. I am keeping only the results that perform well in these 2 extra months that follows the optimization period, so in our example I publish new set files only for the results and symbols that perform well at the beginning of 2022 too.

4. I will repeat this procedure 2 times every year, in February and in July, so you would expect new set files for the Moving Average EA MT5 in coming August and in March of 2023 next.

Moving Average EA MT5 has been updated with 3 new additions.

1. A new First Session Trade on Next Signal setting has been added that will open the first trade when the EA is first attached on the chart and in every next trading session (at the Start Hour/Minutes), right away when this setting is false (by default) or at the next opposite signal when it is true. This way you will be able to avoid exhausted signals that are near to their end.

2. Also a Minimum Distance to MA in Points setting has been added, that will help avoiding too close to the ColoredMA signals, in periods that the market is consolidating and has no clear trend.

3. Finally a new Moving Average filter has been added, that can be used as a trend filter with a higher Moving Average period than the main Moving Average (ColoredMA) period above.

Hello, and thank you for your purchase.

First make sure that you've put the ColoredMA indicator into your MT5 \ File \ Open Data Folder \ MQL5 \ Indicators. Be careful NOT to place it in the Examples folder or any other subfolder, it must go directly into the Indicators folder.

Then you should know that the Moving Average EA will trade the changes of direction of the ColoredMA indicator after you've performed your setup and they are within the trading hours of my provided set file, that's from 16:00 to 05:50.

Finally check the Experts tab of your MT5 terminal for any messages or errors.

Hello, if you have setup only 1 symbol (XAUUSD) you will not see trades every day, the Moving Average EA is trading the changes of direction of the ColoredMA that are within the trading hours of my provided set files.

This is how your XAUUSD setup for the Moving Average EA MT5 should look like.

Check that the MarketWatch time of your broker is GMT+3, that you have the ColoredMA into your Indicators folder and NOT into the Example folder, that you have loaded the correct XAUUSD set file in the EA's Input's tab and that you have no error messages in the Experts tab log of your MT5 terminal.

I did same as u instructed in reply. My broker time is default GMT + 3, No error in Expert tab. Set file also i downloaded from your blog.

Do you see the 'auto trading disabled by client' message in the Experts tab log?

This means that your broker hasn't enabled automated trading for your trading account, so you need to contact your broker and ask them to enable automated trading for your trading account.

This is not a problem of the Moving Average EA MT5, but of your trading account.
