XAU Range Dynamics is a session range breakout Expert Advisor built for gold (XAUUSD). It trades only when two things agree: gold closes outside its session range, and the US dollar confirms the direction. No grid, no martingale, no averaging. One position at a time, with a fixed stop loss and a fixed risk per trade.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Range. At a fixed time of day the EA measures the high and low of a session window you define (start time and length).
2. Breakout. A trade is prepared only when a bar closes outside that range on the entry timeframe. A wick through the level is not enough.
3. USD confirmation. Before entering, the EA checks up to three comparison markets. By default it uses a US dollar basket of EURUSD, USDJPY and USDCHF. A gold buy needs a weaker dollar, a gold sell needs a stronger dollar. The basket move is measured in ATR units, so the filter adapts to volatility.
4. Entry and exit. Stop loss from the range size or from ATR, take profit as a multiple of the stop (risk/reward), fixed money risk per trade.
WHY THE USD CONFIRMATION
Gold is priced in US dollars. Breakouts that run against the dollar move failed far more often in our tests. In the 2024-2026 tick backtest the unfiltered breakout had a win rate of 33.6 % and a profit factor of 1.27. With the USD basket confirmation the same setup reached 40.5 % and 1.71 with about 40 % fewer trades.

XAUUSD, M15, tick data, January 2024 to October 2026. Deposit 10,000 USD, fixed risk 50 USD per trade (0.5 %), risk/reward 2.6.

Please read these numbers correctly. This is a trend-following breakout system with a risk/reward of 2.6. It wins about 4 trades out of 10, and the winners are larger than the losers. Series of 6 to 8 losing trades in a row occurred in every test year and will occur again. 2024 was clearly the weakest year.

- Account type: hedging or netting. The EA holds one position at a time.
- A broker with low gold spread and a VPS are recommended.

The EA works with a fixed stop loss, a fixed risk per trade and a daily trade limit, so the daily and total loss limits of an evaluation account can be planned in advance. It does not guarantee passing an evaluation.
